Andrew Luck Hasn't Suffered Any Setbacks

Jul 29, 2018 9:06 PM

Andrew Luck practiced fully during the first two days of training camp before being limited to just handing the ball off and doing moving-in-the-pocket drills without throwing Saturday as part of a rest day with his arm that was preplanned heading into training camp. The Colts are keeping a close eye on Luck throughout the entire process.

Luck hasn't experienced any pain, which is a significant sign.

"Jitters like before a game for that first practice. Haven't felt that way in a long time," Luck said about his first training camp since 2016. "Responding well. Name of the game for me is to improve every day. Feeling-wise. Technique-wise."

Andrew Luck To Throw Without Limitations When Camp Starts

Jul 20, 2018 4:26 PM

Andrew Luck will start taking reps when training camp begins for the Indianapolis Colts on July 26th.

Luck will not throw every day during training camp. The Colts, as it was discussed during minicamp, want Luck to mimic the regular season as much as possible when it comes to him throwing.

"Andrew is an elite competitor and a pretty rare one," Ballard said. "I think we've seen that during his career. I think it's more of playing live football again. I don't think there's any mental restrictions. I think it's more of getting the live reps verses live people. That's the timing, getting use to moving in the pocket. All those are the things you have to get use to."

Luck originally injured his right shoulder against Tennessee in Week 3 of the 2015 season.

Luck had surgery on his right shoulder in January 2017 after playing through pain in it the entire 2016 season. He missed the team's offseason workouts, all of training camp and eventually the entire 2017 season.

Hunter S. Thompson Told Jim Irsay To Draft Leaf Over Manning

Jul 7, 2018 11:22 AM

Prior to the 1998 NFL Draft, author Hunter S. Thompson advised Jim Irsay to have the Indianapolis Colts take Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning with the first overall pick.

Thompson was willing to give Irsay a $30 million loan if the Colts selected Leaf, but not if they picked Manning.

Leaf tweeted Thursday a picture he recently received of the letter that the late Thompson sent Irsay.

"[Leaf] looks strong & Manning doesn't -- or at least not strong enough to handle that 'Welcome to the NFL' business for two years without a world-class offensive line," Thompson wrote in the letter to Irsay a month before the 1998 draft.

Manning led the Colts to a 141-67 record, the playoffs 11 times, eight seasons of at least 12 victories and the Super Bowl twice, winning one of those appearances.

Robert Turbin Suspended Four Games For PED Violation

Jul 2, 2018 9:11 AM

Robert Turbin has been suspended four games for using performance-enhancing drugs.

He will be eligible to return to the Indianapolis Colts on October 1, ahead of the team's Week 5 game at New England on Oct. 4.

"A urine sample I provided to the NFL has resulted in a positive test of a banned substance under league policy with regards to Performance Enhancing Substances. It absolutely kills me that I allowed this to happen," Turbin wrote on Twitter. "It has always been a priority in my life to display a high level of leadership both on and off the field. I strive to be a person that people can look up to and strive to exemplify the definition of hard work.

"Unfortunately, I have made a mistake. A mistake that will not only have personal consequences, but will affect the Colts organization, an organization that I am extremely appreciative to be a part of. For that, I am truly sorry."
