Raiders Fail To Sell Out, Game Against Colts To Be Blacked Out

Oct 29, 2014 7:54 AM

Despite remaining in the playoff picture and hosting Peyton Manning and the Colts, the Raiders failed to sell out Sunday's game. The game will therefore be blacked out locally in the Bay Area. The Raiders did not ask for an extension beyond the deadline for selling out the game, which signifies that plenty of tickets remain.

Peyton Isn't Thinking About Favre's Streak

Aug 15, 2014 12:15 PM

Peyton Manning has started 205 straight games, but he's not thinking about breaking the Iron Man streak of Brett Favre. Favre's streak ended at 297 when the Vikings faced the Giants. Manning would be close to 40 if he approaches the record. "To say it or write it ? 297 consecutive games ? doesn't do it justice," Manning said. "You think about him being there for his teammates every single Sunday, and that's really what it's about, what he has done with those games. He's been there for his teammates and helped them win a bunch of those games. "It truly is amazing. ... It is an amazing feat. Awfully impressive." Manning's streak began on the opening day of his rookie season in 1998.

Peyton Refers To Win As Playoff Game

Oct 2, 2014 3:30 AM

Riding a three-game losing streak, the Colts came into LP Field and defeated the Titans 30-28 on Thursday night. Thanks to their recent struggles, Indianapolis needs to be very sharp down the stretch and quarterback Peyton Manning likened it to beginning the postseason early. "I think we're in a four-game playoffs, and this was a playoff game tonight," Manning said. The Colts, now 7-6, the only NFL team to reach the postseason in 10 of the last 11 seasons. If they win out, they'd take the AFC South division.

Peyton: It's Not Time To Panic

Jun 3, 2014 3:34 PM

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is sticking to his normal game plan and says it's not time to panic amid the team's three-game losing streak. "Aggressive discipline, that's kind of how I've always been taught to play," Manning said. "What does that mean? That means throw it to the guy if he's open and don't throw it if he's covered. I just haven't been executing that philosophy well because I've been throwing to some guys that have been covered." Manning has thrown 11 interceptions in the last three games. "We've lost three games, guys. I don't know what 'anything like this' means," Manning said when asked if he'd endured any similar slumps in high school or college. "It's a tough stretch. It's a three-game losing streak. I know you guys probably aren't used to having to ask these questions, but it's football and that's the way it is."

Peyton In Midst Of Worst Run Of Career

May 19, 2014 4:53 PM

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has thrown 11 interceptions in his last three games, all loses, after throwing just four through the Colts' first nine contests. Over the three-game skid, Manning has gone 105-for-148 with 1,046 and eight touchdowns, great numbers without taking the turnovers into account. Manning threw six interceptions against the Chargers in Week 10 of the 2007 season, but he's never approached double-digit interceptions in a three-game stretch in his career. Even during his rookie season, when he threw 28 interceptions, Manning never had a three-game run with more than eight picks. In fact, Manning has thrown fewer than 11 interceptions in four of his twelve complete seasons. During Indy's three-game losing streak they have fallen behind early, which has forced Manning to throw the ball even more so than normal. The lack of a running game isn't anything new, but it certainly hasn't helped Peyton's effectiveness either. Entering Week 13, the Colts ranked 29th in total rushing, just ahead of Denver, Arizona and Seattle.

Witten Wouldn't Trade Romo For Manning

Dec 16, 2014 2:49 AM

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten had some high praise for quarterback Tony Romo on Friday. When a reporter asked Witten if he could tell Romo that his tight end would rather play with Peyton Manning, a laughing Witten responded: "Absolutely not. Absolutely not." "I got a good quarterback too," Witten said. "I wouldn't trade him for anybody. It's been a good relationship. We've had a lot of success and good times together. Hopefully, we can get it back on track." Witten and Manning both attended the University of Tennessee.
