The Indianapolis Colts have won some big games in recent weeks without asking Carson Wentz to do too much.
Wentz completed just 5 of 12 passes for 57 yards in the Colts' win over the New England Patriots this past Saturday night.
The Colts are comfortable leaning on their rushing attack and defense, but Frank Reich acknowledged that they'll need more from Wentz down the stretch.
"I think for us to go where we want to go, there are going to be games where Carson will be the quote-unquote star of the game," Reich said. "I think that'll have to happen."
The NFL has revealed some of the first Pro Bowl selections as the league heads into the stretch run.
Jonathan Taylor led all players in fan voting and was joined among the early selections by Tom Brady, Travis Kelce, Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp.
The NFL also revealed three members of the Las Vegas Raiders to make the squad -- Maxx Crosby, Denzel Perryman and AJ Cole. The game will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Feb. 6.
The Philadelphia Eagles are now guaranteed to receive a first round pick from the Indianapolis Colts after Carson Wentz hit a playing time benchmark on Saturday.
Wentz has now played 906 of the Colts’ 928 snaps this season, or 97.6 percent. Even if something unforeseen were to happen and Wentz missed the final three games of the season, Wentz would finish with around 80 percent of the Colts’ total offensive snaps on the year.
The Eagles now own three first round picks in 2022.
The Philadelphia Eagles are nearly guaranteed to receive the Indianapolis Colts' first-round pick in 2022.
The trade that sent Carson Wentz to the Colts gave the Eagles a first-round pick if Wentz plays at least 75 percent of offensive snaps this season. Through Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans, Wentz has played 853 of the team's 875 snaps this season, or 97.5 percent.
The Colts' offense is on pace to play 1,144 snaps this season, which would mean Wentz needs to play 858 snaps on the season to reach 75 percent.
The Eagles also own their own first-round pick and the Miami Dolphins' first-round pick next year.
