April 2012 - Indianapolis Colts Wiretap
Colts Sign OT George Foster
The Colts have signed former first-round draft pick George Foster.
The 6-foot-5, 338-pound offensive tackle was Denver's first-round pick (20th) in 2003.
He played four seasons with the Broncos before spending two seasons in Detroit, then moved to Cleveland in 2009.
Polian: Colts Could Have Traded For Orton
The trade deadline was bumped from Week 6 to Week 8 recently, a decision that would have changed the makeup of the Colts had it been enacted last season.
Bill Polian, who was let go as president by Indianapolis after the season, said he could have acquired quarterback Kyle Orton.
"I think the deadline being moved last year would have made a difference for us," Polian said.
He says that Peyton Manning might still be with the Colts had the trade been reached. Indianapolis could have finished with a better record, keeping them out of position to draft Andrew Luck.
"We would have rekindled our interest in Orton. In Week 6, we knew our quarterback situation wasn't great, but after a couple more weeks, we realized the situation was bad," he said. "We probably would have called Denver, who'd gone to (Tim) Tebow by then, and said, 'Hey, we'll give you a three (third-round draft choice) for Orton.'"
Colts Still Have Offer On Table For Jenkins
The Colts have made multiple trade offers for Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins and one remains on the table, according to a league source.
Dallas coach Jason Garrett said this week that the team would not trade Jenkins, but another NFL source familiar with the situation said he believed a trade could be worked out for the right price.

Vanderjagt Suspended From Coaching Job
Mike Vanderjagt has been suspended from his role as a middle-school soccer coach after a March incident in which he allegedly grabbed a student by the throat at Charter Middle School in Marco Island, Fla.
The Naples Daily News reported Thursday that Vanderjagt, a school parent, was investigated by police for attacking a student that taunted him with cries of "wide left, wide left" through a rolled-up piece of poster board.
According to police, Vanderjagt was crossing the school's parking late in the day when he heard the taunts. The student told authorities the former kicker "walked up to him, grabbed him by the throat and started cursing at him." Vanderjagt told police he simply placed his hand on the child's shoulder.
Broncos Acquire Chris Gronkowski From Colts
The Broncos have traded defensive back Cassius Vaughn to the Colts for fullback Chris Gronkowski.
Denver executive John Elway announced the deal Wednesday on Twitter, saying: "Our team has a lot of depth in the secondary and this is an opportunity for us to add a quality fullback to our roster."
Bucs Send Winslow To Seahawks, Sign Clark
The Buccaneers traded tight end Kellen Winslow to the Seahawks for a draft pick on Monday night and signed former Colts star Dallas Clark to replace him.
Earlier in the day, Winslow told SiriusXM radio that first-year coach Greg Schiano was "kind of upset" that Winslow has not been working out with the team during the offseason.
"That's kind of shocking, but that's what it is," Winslow said, adding that Schiano told him the coach "would help me out with a trade."
Indy Lost $1.1M Hosting Super Bowl
Indianapolis officials say the city lost more than expected hosting this year's Super Bowl.

Peyton: Luck Will 'Fit In Perfectly' With Colts
Peyton Manning, back in Indianapolis for a fundraiser over the weekend, said he doesn't think Andrew Luck will have difficulty fitting in with the Colts.
"I think he'll fit in perfectly," Manning said of the first overall pick. "He's a great player. He's a great kid. I've talked to him, and I know he's excited about getting started.
"I can remember that same feeling I had as a rookie."
Colts Offer Study Aid To Stanford-Bound Luck
Andrew Luck will be away from the Colts for a month, but he plans to keep himself involved in the learning process.
Luck plans to review film of this weekend's rookie minicamp and work out with as many of his new teammates as he can.
League rules prohibit rookies from attending any offseason workouts at the team complex, other than the rookie minicamp, until they have completed the college semester's classes.
That means the first overall pick is barred from working out at Indy's facilities until after he finishes his final class June 7.
"It is tough. I think it is very tough," Luck said.
"We are going to have to find ways, legally, or to work around the rules, to get work in with the guys and start building those relationships with the veterans who can't be here at this minicamp. As a rookie quarterback, I wish it would be easier to get out here and to do this stuff, but it is the way it is. Everybody has got to do it."
