A source with knowledge of the talks indicated the quarterback would "have to clear" marketing proposals with the team's front office.

Favre Would Have Taken Griffin First Overall

Sep 25, 2014 2:23 AM

The Colts drafted Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick in April, but Brett Favre would have gone a different route. "[Robert] Griffin, he's smaller, but if I was starting a team, I'd probably of went with RG3 just because, if they can't protect you, you got to protect yourself," Favre told Deion Sanders who he'd take if he was starting a team.

Report: Colts, Luck Stuck On Endorsement Terms

Oct 31, 2014 3:04 PM

The Colts and first overall pick Andrew Luck are clashing over details that have nothing to do with guaranteed money in his first professional contract. Len Pasquarelli reports that the quarterback's camp is balking at language in the contract dealing with Luck's marketing endeavors. "One of the stumbling blocks in negotiations ... is the proposed inclusion of marketing language that Luck and his representatives, at least so far, regard as strident," Pasquarelli writes. "One source with knowledge of the talks even suggested that Luck would 'have to clear' marketing proposals with the club."

Colts See Brown As Every-Down Back

May 21, 2014 2:09 PM

Colts coach Chuck Pagano views Donald Brown as an every-down back. Brown ranked 30th in the NFL with 645 rushing yards in 2011, but he averaged 4.8 yards per carry (11th). "Donald is an every down back," Pagano declared. "He is doing a tremendous job and he is having a fantastic offseason. He understands, especially on third down as far as protections go and all of those things. Nothing is going to be more important than protections."

Scout: Luck, Griffin Won't Match Newton's Records

Oct 31, 2014 4:49 AM

Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin will take the reigns of their respective teams immediately, but one NFL scout doesn't expect them to put up the gaudy stats that Cam Newton did in the same situation. "I expect Griffin to put up better numbers in 2012 but that doesn't mean that he will be the better player," Greg Gabriel writes. "Don't expect either player to have the kind of stats that Cam Newton had last year. I would expect numbers more similar to what Andy Dalton had in Cincinnati."

Pagano Insists Colts Are Reloading, Not Rebuilding

Oct 31, 2014 7:36 AM

Chuck Pagano insists on using the word "reloading" when describing what the Colts have done to reverse their poor 2011 fortunes. "Like I told these guys when I first got here, there's a lot of players here that, if someone didn't see something special in them they wouldn't be in an NFL football facility," Pagano told the NFL Network. "We've raised the bar, we've raised the expectations. I know everybody is looking in a different direction as far as what their expectations are for us, but we're certainly not doing that. We've got some guys who are running out of time, so to speak, and have high expectations for themselves and the rest of the players here."

Broyles Draws Comparisons To Marvin Harrison

Oct 30, 2014 2:30 PM

Jay Norvell, who spent four years as a coach with the Colts, sees some of Marvin Harrison in Lions rookie Ryan Broyles. Norvell coached the wide receiver at Oklahoma. "He's very similar to Marvin in his intellect and the way that he sees the game," Norvell said. "His mind is always racing at 100 m.p.h., trying to evaluate the next step, the next play, the next opportunity, and that's the way Marvin was. He was always surveying the field and making split-second decisions before they happened. That's an ability." Broyles finished his Oklahoma career with an NCAA-record 349 receptions, but suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in November.
