Lions Using Two-Tight End Sets

May 18, 2014 9:47 PM

The Lions have been using a lot of two-tight end sets to utilize the skills of Tony Scheffler and Brandon Pettigrew. "It's different than what I am used to," said Scheffler. "I haven't been in a system quite like this, but as a professional and a veteran in this league, you've got to find a way to adapt, learn new systems and move forward." Scheffler is a skilled route-runner and receiver, while Pettigrew is a tough blocker who's improving as a pass catcher.

Suh Apologizes For Late Camp Arrival

Oct 12, 2014 8:34 PM

Ndamukong Suh missed seven practices as his representatives and the Lions were negotiating a contract. Suh previously vowed to report to training camp on time. "It was a tough time. Obviously, I wanted to be in camp on time as I said previously. That's what I said. Unfortunately, I wasn't, so I apologize for that,'' Suh said. "As we all know, it's a business, and my agents did a great job of taking care of that for me because that's what I hired them for. They did everything I asked and took care of it the way I wanted it taken care of. That's beyond the point now. I'm in camp now and I'm excited to be here.''

Lions Confirm Deal With Suh

Jul 23, 2014 9:57 PM

The Lions have confirmed reports that they have reached an agreement on a contract with rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said Suh has passed a conditioning test and was cleared for drills. "I give a lot of credit to Roosevelt Barnes and Eugene Parker," said Lions president Tom Lewand, referring to Suh's agents. "Obviously, and most importantly to Ndamukong himself because it takes a player's involvement to really get a deal done. While we would've liked to do it earlier -- I'm sure he would've liked to do it earlier -- we're just glad it's done and over with and he's got a lot of training camp ahead of him." Suh's five-year rookie contract is worth more than $60 million, $40 million of which is guaranteed, team sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Lions Veteran Calls Out Ndamukong Suh

Feb 16, 2014 5:30 AM

Lions center Dominic Raiola says rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh should end his holdout. "I haven't even sent him a text or anything, but I'd like to tell him, 'Just sign the damn contract already. You are missing some good things here,' " Raiola told the Detroit News. Suh missed his fourth day of practice on Tuesday as his agents continue working on a contract with the team. "I understand the business side of it, but when you are talking $40 million, $42 million, $43 million, I don't know what the big difference is," Raiola said. "Any way you cut it, after taxes, that's $20 million. So you've got to get that name signed and get out here."
