Detroit's PR Stepped Away From Football For Three Years After HS

Nov 8, 2014 5:13 PM

Detroit's punt returner Stefan Logan took a three-year break from football upon graduating from high school. "I took three years off because at that time I didn't know what my next step was in life," said Logan. "I had to take those three years off to find out what I needed to do, and once I did, I made that next move and went to the University of South Dakota. I worked at a Publix grocery story as a bag boy and helped my dad at the University of Miami School of Medicine as a mortician. I worked out with one of my best friends from Miami when he came home from college and he helped me stay in shape. I did miss it. Football has been my passion." Logan was picked up by Detroit at the end of the preseason. "I know there was an organization out there that wanted me. As soon as I cleared waivers, they brought me in. They let me know they wanted me to be part of the return game, which is what I did in Pittsburgh. I knew when I came to the Lions I was going to be able to help them. We're 0-2 right now, but we're still fighting. Coming over here was a great move for me."

Stafford Says He's Not Injury Prone

Sep 30, 2014 11:29 PM

Lions second-year quarterback Matt Stafford doesn't agree with the notion that he's injury-prone. "Not really," he said. "Those were pretty perfect hits. I just got dropped on my shoulder pretty hard both times. I wouldn't call it injury prone; more like weird, freaky injuries." Stafford has suffered three significant injuries in 11 career games. He injured his right shoulder on Sunday, but will not need surgery.

Best Already Drawing Comparisons To Sanders

Jun 16, 2014 7:24 AM

Lions rookie running back Jahvid Best hasn't played a down of regular-season football, but he's already being compared to franchise legend Barry Sanders. "In my nine or 10 years of being here, I don't think we've had a running back with his skill set, the way he can cut and get upfield and his quickness, that stopping and starting and getting up to full speed," Lions veteran tackle Jeff Backus said. "From watching Barry Sanders when I was a kid, he's got a lot of his traits." Backus wasn't alone in making the claim. "(Best) has got a good feel for the game and good vision," Lions linebacker Julian Peterson said. "As long as the offensive line gives him a little room, I think he'll take care of the rest, like Barry or one of those types of guys."

Suh Fined $7,500 For Hit On Delhomme

Jul 22, 2014 8:26 PM

Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was fined $7,500 by the NFL on Friday for his roughing-the-passer penalty on quarterback Jake Delhomme in an exhibition game against the Browns. The incident took place during an exhibition game last Saturday. Suh grabbed Delhomme's face mask and twisted it, then wrapped his arms around the quarterback's head and slammed him to the ground. He said he didn't know Delhomme had thrown the ball before he hit him. "I was just going after the ball, and I had no clue that he had gotten rid of it," he said.
