Hill Says Pats Tried To Break His Arm

May 29, 2014 6:06 PM

Lions quarterback Shaun Hill is accusing the Patriots of playing dirty on Thursday afternoon. Hill believes the Patriots tried to re-break his left arm during a sneak play, according to a report. During the second quarter, Hill ran a quarterback sneak from New England's two-yard line and extended his arms toward the goal line. He had been playing with a fracture in his non-throwing forearm suffered against the Giants five weeks ago and said he felt someone in the scrum trying to work over his limb on Sunday. "That's why I eventually gave up the ball," Hill said, according to Mlive.com. "Somebody was down there [in the pile] literally trying to break my arm, which is already broken. Literally, trying. And, uh, y'know, I guess [it] wasn't seen [by officials]."

Lions To Get Best Different Looks

Jun 19, 2014 3:19 PM

The Lions are looking to give rookie running back Jahvid Best some different looks offensively. Detroit has run a handful of plays out of pistol sets in almost every game this season and they could feature the formation even more than usual Sunday against the Bills. "The more and more we run it, the more and more I understand it and I think it's got some merit for us, especially with Jahvid Best at running back," Scott Linehan said. "We're at the infant stages of it, but there's going to be things about it that are going to be good for us as we kind of stick with it."

Stafford Won't Need Shoulder Surgery

Nov 4, 2014 5:06 AM

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford won't need surgery on his right shoulder after injuring it on Sunday against the Jets. He injured the same shoulder once before. "He hurt the same shoulder," coach Jim Schwartz said Monday, "but from all accounts and from speaking to the doctors, it's not an aggravation of the old injury. It's a new injury. The old injury was healed and he was just as likely to hurt that shoulder as he was the other one." The original injury to his right (throwing) shoulder was a separation and it cost him six weeks and five games. "It's too early to tell," Schwartz said of how long Stafford would be out. "But there was no stacking (of the injuries), meaning it was no worse now because it was injured before. He's very sore. We hope to get the soreness out and get him back throwing, but we don't know when that will be. But we will err on the side of caution."

Jets May Put Cromartie On Calvin Johnson

Jul 11, 2014 11:57 PM

One would assume that the Jets would put No. 1 cornerback Darrelle Revis on Detroit's top receiver, Calvin Johnson, this Sunday, but that may not be the case. Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com writes that New York used the bigger Antonio Cromartie on Randy Moss a month ago, while Revis covered Minnesota slot man Percy Harvin. Cromartie did a good job on Moss, which could lead him to cover Johnson against Detroit.
