The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Melvin Gordon to their practice squad.

Gordon was recently released by the Denver Broncos due to fumbling issues. The Chiefs still play the Broncos twice to close out the season.

This season, he rushed for 318 yards and caught 25 passes in 10 games. But he fumbled five times.

In a season in which the only thing the Denver Broncos can consistently do, it seems, is raise their own frustration level with one loss after another, a brief sideline blowup between defensive tackle Mike Purcell and quarterback Russell Wilson was caught on camera Sunday.

It came early in the fourth quarter of the Broncos' eighth loss of the season. And while both players were quick to dismiss the incident after the Carolina Panthers' 23-10 victory, it was clear the team's seventh loss in the past eight games had taken a toll.

The Carolina Panthers will start Sam Darnold at quarterback on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

He'll be the team's third different starter in as many weeks.

Baker Mayfield threw two interceptions and the Panthers failed to score a touchdown in Week 11's 13-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The start will be Darnold's first since Jan. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Denver Broncos have waived Melvin Gordon III.

Gordon fumbled for the fifth time this season during the Denver Broncos' loss against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Gordon was Denver's leader in carries with 90 and rushing yards with 318.

"I was sick about it, obviously,'' Gordon said after Sunday's loss. "I kind of know what comes after that at this point. I shot my own self in the foot. I am a little salty because I was feeling it [Sunday]. That happened and I kind of knew that I was going to have to find a way to get back in rhythm. I knew it was going to be tough. I tried to make splashes here and there after it but my share of opportunities kind of dwindled after that, so that's my fault.''

Russell Wilson says that improvement for the Denver Broncos starts with him.

"First of all, I have to play better," Wilson said. "I've got to find ways to make some more plays for us, more touchdowns. And it's something that you continue to work for every day. You focus on the little things, the fundamentals, the little things of the game.

"I've been down before. It doesn't mean that we can't come out on the other end of it all."

The Broncos are 3-6, third in the NFC West. No team has scored fewer points in the NFL this season.

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to acquire Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos for a first round pick from the 49ers, a fourth round pick in 2024, and Chase Edmonds. The Dolphins will also acquire a 2025 fifth rounder.

The Dolphins are expected to sign Chubb to a long-term contract.
