Broncos Hire Nathaniel Hackett As Head Coach

Jan 29, 2022 8:10 AM

The Denver Broncos are hiring Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to be the team's new head coach.

Hackett was scheduled to interview with the Jaguars on Thursday, but the Broncos stepped in Wednesday night to get a deal done to prevent him from going to Jacksonville.

Hackett becomes the team's fourth different coach since the start of the 2016 season.

The Broncos have previously been linked with Aaron Rodgers, which could intensify given his connections to Hackett.

Court Ruling Moves Broncos Closer To A Sale

Jan 12, 2022 9:09 AM

The Denver Broncos could soon end up with a new owner.

A Denver judge ruled that no right of first refusal applies to any potential sale of the franchise Tuesday, making a sale of the franchise suddenly less complicated.

Judge Shelly I. Gilman concluded that "the right of first refusal ... between Edgar F. Kaiser, Jr. and Patrick D. Bowlen ... is no longer valid or enforceable in any respect."

Kaiser sold the team to Bowlen in 1984. Kaiser’s estate argued that a right of first refusal from the original sales contract still applies, meaning that Kaiser’s estate would have had the ability to match any offer to buy the Broncos.

The future of Vic Fangio as head coach of the Denver Broncos is uncertain entering the offseason.

Fangio met with George Paton in recent days to present his plans and make his case to stay for a fourth season as head coach.

Multiple sources not connected to the Broncos believe they will eventually part ways with Fangio.

Paton, who is in his first year as general manager of the Broncos, will have the ultimate authority on the decision.

Dan Reeves has passed away at his home in Atlanta at the age of 77.

Reeves is one of only 10 coaches to have won at least 190 regular-season games in his career, and he guided two teams to the Super Bowl.

"The Denver Broncos are deeply saddened by the loss of legendary Head Coach Dan Reeves," the Broncos said in a statement. "... One of the winningest coaches in NFL history, Coach Reeves set the foundation for the Broncos' decade of dominance in the 1980s and championship tradition for years to come."
