Demaryius Thomas Retires From NFL

Jun 28, 2021 5:22 PM

Demaryius Thomas has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Thomas was the first of two first-round picks for the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL draft and spent nine seasons with the team. Thomas played in 10 seasons overall and finished with 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns.

"D.T. was the complete package as a wide receiver, growing into one of the very best at his position,'' Broncos president of football operations John Elway said in a statement announcing the news. "The combination of his size, speed, strength and athleticism was unmatched. Demaryius' remarkable consistency and production were instrumental in our offense setting historic records and our team winning a lot of games, including two AFC Championships and Super Bowl 50.''

Melvin Gordon 'Very Confident' He Can Win RB Battle In Denver

Jun 16, 2021 9:27 AM

Melvin Gordon led the Denver Broncos with 986 yards and nine rushing touchdowns last season and is confident he'll remain the team's leading running back.

Denver selected Javonte Williams in the second round of this year's NFL Draft.

"I'm going to go out there, do my job and compete, and wherever the cards fall, they fall," Gordon said. "I can't worry about [the positional battle] too much, even I know that’s kind of the talk right now. The media is making it Javonte versus Mel, who's going to start, this and that.

"But it's not really about that. It's about us winning football games and finding ways to compete... I'm trying to put the Broncos [back] on the map and keep us on the map."

Former Teammate: Deshaun Watson Wants To Play For Broncos

Jun 10, 2021 9:00 PM

Deshaun Watson wants to join the Denver Broncos, former teammate Kareem Jackson said on a podcast.

Watson requested a trade from the Houston Texans before multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior were filed against the quarterback.

"I've got a great relationship with Deshaun," Jackson, who plays for the Broncos, told former NFL player Aqib Talib on his "Catchin' Fades" podcast. "I've been talking to him the last couple of weeks, man, and like, all he's been telling me is like, 'Jack, just tell 'em, like, that's where I want to be.' ... He's like, 'I want to be in Denver.'"

Watson is scheduled to make $10.5 million in 2021 on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. Because of the contract extension he signed in September 2020, Watson's salary jumps to $35 million in 2022.

Ja'Wuan James Files $15M Grievance Against Broncos, Signs With Ravens

Jun 7, 2021 4:58 PM

Ja'Wuan James has filed a $15 million grievance against the Denver Broncos and has also agreed to sign a contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

James had been guaranteed $10 million for the 2021 season, but because the injury took place off-site, it was designated as a non-football injury, meaning the Broncos were not obligated to pay his salary. The team later released him.

James is seeking his $10 million salary for the 2021 season and $5 million salary for the 2022 season, arguing that he was working out away from the facility under guidance from the Broncos.
