Broncos Want 'Competition' At QB With Drew Lock

Apr 22, 2021 9:07 PM

The Denver Broncos want to add "competition" at quarterback for Drew Lock.

In his pre-draft remarks Thursday, George Paton again said he likes Lock's potential as a quarterback but wouldn't commit to him being the team's Week 1 starter.

The Broncos own the No. 9 pick in the draft.

Paton said the team would consider trading up in the first round for "the right guy" on draft day, depending on who was available after the opening picks are made.

Apr 16, 2021 8:24 AM

The Denver Broncos could shop DaeSean Hamilton in the coming weeks if the team continues to develop a surplus at wide receiver.

The Broncos have Courtland Sutton, who missed most of 2020 due to injury, Tim Patrick, Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler at wide receiver.

Hamilton caught 23 passes for 293 yards and two scores in 16 games.

Broncos, Buccaneers, Seahawks To Skip Voluntary Workouts

Apr 14, 2021 8:47 AM

Players from the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks will not report to their respective team facilities next week to begin voluntary offseason workouts, the teams said in statements released by the NFL Players Association on Tuesday.

In their statement, the Broncos players cited rising COVID-19 positivity rates in Denver, as well as the lack of "adequate protocols in place."

The players voted to take this action and notified Vic Fangio earlier Tuesday morning that the vote had taken place, according to sources.

The Seahawks players issued a similar statement in which they noted, "The NFLPA has provided us with thorough research and information regarding our safety as players as we enter voluntary workouts this year, especially the benefits on our health and safety from a virtual off-season last year. After considering all the facts, we as a team have decided to make a decision that is uncomfortable but necessary."

Offseason programs are scheduled to begin April 19 leaguewide, at which point daily testing for players and staff will commence.
