Jets Trade DT Robertson To Broncos
The New York Jets have traded defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson to the Denver Broncos for a late-round conditional draft choice in the 2009, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.
Robertson is a five year veteran and was the fourth overall pick by the Jets in 2003.
Broncos Still Looking To Trade Down
The Broncos are still thinking about trading down in this weekend's draft, according to the Denver Post.
The Broncos currently have the 12th selection.
The Texans and Cowboys are potential trading partners as both appear interested in moving up and have right pieces to swing such a deal.
Hamza Abdullah Signs With Broncos
Hamza Abdullah signed his contract tender from the Broncos on Thursday, and he is expected to open the season as the team's starting safety, according to the Denver Post.
He was a restricted free agent and will be paid $927,000 this season.
Broncos Add Veteran WR Jackson
The Broncos reached an agreement with veteran receiver Darrell Jackson on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com's Mike Sando.
The one-year contract will become official once Jackson passes a physical.
With top receiver Brandon Marshall expected to be limited at the beginning of the season because of injury, Jackson could be the top dog at the beginning of fall.
Vanderjagt Has Tryout With Denver
Free agent kicker Mike Vanderjagt had a tryout with the Broncos on Monday, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
He is the most accurate kicker in NFL history but has been out of the NFL since midway through the 2006 season.
Denver is looking to add some competition to the job, with untested Matt Prater far from a lock to earn the top gig.
Broncos Reach One-Year Deal With WR Parker
The Broncos reached an agreement with former Kansas City receiver Samie Parker on Monday, according to the Denver Post.
"I'm a Bronco," Parker said Monday night of the one-year pact. "This is a good situation for me because I'm going to be able to come in and compete for a job."
He had a marginal season for the Chiefs in 2006 but was bumped down the depth chart by Dwayne Bowe last season.
Broncos Waive DT Burton
The Broncos on Monday waived defensive tackle Antwon Burton, as reported by Yahoo.com.
Burton appeared in just six games during the 2007 season, making four tackles.
Broncos Eyeing WR's Jackson And Parker
The Broncos are looking to add depth to their wide receiver corps and have their eyes on free agents Samie Parker and Darrell Jackson, according to the Denver Post.
Parker last played with the Chiefs, while Jackson was cut by the 49ers earlier this offseason.
It is believed that the Broncos could reach an agreement with Parker by Monday, unless they decide to give Jackson a longer look.
Denver Might Be Looking To Trade Down
If the Broncos make a deal relating to this month's NFL draft, they are expected to trade down the board according to the Denver Post.
Based on past deals, Denver could obtain a late first-rounder and another selection in the third round, as well.
Speculation is that the Cowboys could be a fit as a trade partner.
Denver's Marshall Has Cast Removed
Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall had the heavy cast removed from his forearm, according to the Denver Post.
"The doctor said it looks good," Marshall said. "All we have to do now is wait for the artery to come around, but everything else is healing well."
Quarterback Jay Cutler was critical of Marshall's actions a few weeks ago.
"I'm fine. I don't want to talk about this situation anymore," Marshall said. "I don't even know all that was said. I just want to get this behind me and get back on the field."
