The Cowboys have acquired guard Montrae Holland from the Broncos for a fifth-round draft pick in 2010, according to Dallas Morning News.
Holland will fill in at left guard while Kyle Kosier recovers from a foot injury.
"We think to come in there and get a guy who started and has as much experience as he has is an opportunity for us when we look initially at our backup situation," owner Jerry Jones said. "We don't have those kinds of starters on the team. That was a plus for us."

Marshall's Suspension Reduced To One Game
Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall has had his three-game suspension reduced to one game, according to Denver Post.
Marshall will not play in the team's season-opener against the Raiders, but he will be reinstated on Sept. 9 in order to prepare for Denver's Week Two battle against San Diego.
"I'm very happy that the commissioner was willing to take a second look at this situation and give Mr. Marshall an opportunity to prove he will not make some of the bad choices he's made in the past," said Harvey Steinberg, who represented Marshall at his appeal hearing Tuesday. "We were treated fairly and professionally throughout the appellate process, and we appreciate the way this was handled."

Rodgers Looks Good As Packers Down Broncos
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked near perfect on Friday night in the team's win over Denver, according to The Associated Press.
Rodgers was 18-for-22 with 193 yards and one touchdown, leading four scoring drives in five possessions.
"I think Aaron Rodgers has done everything right from a focus standpoint," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "He was put in a situation that's different. He's done a very good job of focusing through that. And at the end of the day you need to focus on playing quarterback and I thought he did that very well tonight."
Broncos' Marshall Appeals Suspension
Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall formally appealed his three-game suspension Thursday to the Commissioner Roger Goodell, according to The Denver Post.
The Broncos' receiver was found to be in violation of the league's personal conduct policy. An appeal hearing has not been set although it's expected before the season-opening week.
Appeal aside, Goodell said he would consider reducing the suspension to two games if Marshall met certain conditions.

Marshall Vows He'll Do What's Necessary
Broncos' receiver Brandon Marshall vows that he'll do what's necessary to be productive for the team this season, according to ESPN.com.
Marshall has been arrested three times in a yearlong span beginning in March 2007.
"Brandon is not a bad guy, at all," quarterback Jay Cutler said while coming to his teammate's defense. "He's a good guy; he means well. It's just he's been in some sticky situations, some things he probably shouldn't get into. ... I think it definitely hit home with this. I don't expect Brandon to be in any more situations like that for the rest of his career and probably for the rest of his life."
Marshall didn't talk much on Wednesday, a day after Goodell handed down the three-game suspension.
"You know what, it doesn't matter," Marshall said. "It's in the past, and all I can do is worry about now. I can't worry about yesterday."
