Dak Prescott Wants To Play, Says Not 'Fully My Decision'

Oct 29, 2021 9:05 AM

Dak Prescott wants to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football despite a calf strain that has kept him limited the last two days of practice.

"Knowing this is a long journey and a long season, I don't necessarily know if this is fully my decision, but I'm just going to keep controlling the things I can to get better," Prescott said. "I've gotten better each and every day, and that's what is most important. I'm just focused on doing that again tomorrow."

Prescott said the coaches and director of rehabilitation Britt Brown will be part of the decision-making process as well.

Dak Prescott To Undergo MRI On Calf, Expects To 'Be Fine'

Oct 19, 2021 10:30 AM

Dak Prescott will undergo an MRI for a right calf injury that he suffered on his touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb to defeat the New England Patriots in overtime on Sunday.

"Life keeps throwing punches, and I'm going to keep throwing them back," Prescott said. "It's a part of it. It's part of this game. It's a physical game we play. I'll be fine. I've got a lot of confidence in myself, the medical team. I feel good. Obviously, this [the boot] is a precaution.

"But, yeah, I mean, just more so thinking about the touchdown, it doesn't hurt as bad, obviously, when you score and win the game."

Prescott said he "came down funny" after the 35-yard throw that he made while running to the Cowboys' sideline. Had Dallas not scored, Prescott said he could have continued to play.

Cowboys Release Jaylon Smith

Oct 5, 2021 9:52 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have released Jaylon Smith.

The move comes as a surprise since Smith has not missed a game in his career and the Cowboys are on the hook for his full $7.2 million base salary.

By releasing Smith now, the Cowboys are free from the $9.2 million base salary in 2022 that was currently guaranteed only for injury.

Jerry Jones met with Smith on Tuesday to discuss the team's decision.

Smith signed a five-year, $64 million extension in 2019 that included $35.5 million in guaranteed money.

The Cowboys selected Smith in the second round of the 2016 draft despite a serious knee injury suffered in his final game at Notre Dame that scared off many teams.
