Ezekiel Elliott: 'I Got A Lot To Prove'

Jul 23, 2021 9:06 AM

Coming off the worst statistical year of his career, Ezekiel Elliott feels he has a lot to prove in 2021.

"Just having the year I had last year, you don't need more motivation than that," Elliott said. "I just know the type of player I am. I don't think I showed that last year. I got a lot to prove. I just made sure I didn't leave any doubt out there that I didn't do as much as I needed to do."

The running back rushed for 979 yards in 15 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.

Elliott signed a six-year, $90 million extension in 2019 that guaranteed him $50 million. He is set to make $9.6 million this year and his $12.4 million base salary in 2022 is already fully guaranteed.

Stephen Jones: Waiting To Sign Dak Prescott Was Our Biggest Mistake

Jul 21, 2021 9:28 AM

The Dallas Cowboys signed Dak Prescott to a four-year, $160 million deal in March, but Stephen Jones believes the deal should have come together sooner.

Jones was asked by KXAS-TV NBC 5 to name the Cowboys' "biggest swing and miss" during the Executive Vice President's tenure in the front office. Jones said it was having Prescott play out his full four-year rookie contract, and then play one year on the franchise tag, before finally signing him to a long-term deal.

"Probably would've signed Dak the first time around," Jones said. "It would've been better for everybody."
