Jason Witten Decides To Retire From NFL

Jason Witten has decided to retire from the NFL.

Witten spent one season with the Las Vegas Raiders after a long career with the Dallas Cowboys that included a one-year sabbatical as color analyst on Monday Night Football.

Witten will finish his career with 1,228 catches, 13,046 yards, 74 touchdowns and 271 games played.

Dan Quinn Considered Favorite To Become Dallas Defensive Coordinator

Dan Quinn is the favorite to become defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys.

Mike Nolan was fired last week by the Cowboys.

Quinn was fired by the Atlanta Falcons as head coach after five games in 2020. The Cowboys previously used a scheme from 2013 until 2019 similar to the one used by Quinn.

The Dallas Cowboys have fired defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula.

The Cowboys finished 23rd in yards per game (31st vs. the run, 11th vs. the pass) and 28th in points (29.6).

If the Cowboys look in-house for a replacement, George Edwards spent the year as a senior defensive assistant.

Kellen Moore Agrees To Extension With Cowboys

Kellen Moore has agreed to a multiyear extension with the Dallas Cowboys to remain offensive coordinator.

Boise State had interest in hiring Moore following the departure of Bryan Harsin to Auburn.

Moore had a record-setting career as quarterback for the Broncos from 2008 to 2011, winning 50 games in four seasons.

"I love Boise State. I will always root for them, and I hope one day to be a part of the program again," Moore said. "We are building something special here in Dallas. I am thankful to the Jones family and [head coach] Mike McCarthy for providing me with the opportunity to coach these special players. I am excited for us to put it all together and finish the job."
