Ezekiel Elliott 'Normal' After Diagnosis, Concerned With Player Safety

Jun 25, 2020 8:59 AM

Ezekiel Elliott, who was diagnosed with the coronavirus 10 days ago, says that he's back to feeling "normal" but has not been cleared by doctors to work out.

The Dallas Cowboys running back said he had shortness of breath and a cough for a couple of days.

As cases of positive tests for the virus mount, Elliott said he was concerned about the safety of players, with the NFL preparing for a return to training camps in July.

"I just feel like there's a lot of moving parts that have to be figured out," Elliott said. "I just don't know how they can keep the players [healthy]. You gotta put the health of the players first.

"And it's not even so much, I would say, the players' health -- because I got corona, and it really didn't affect me much. But a lot of people have kids -- they may have kids with asthma; they may have newborn babies; their parents or grandparents may live with them. ... We have to find ways to make sure that players and their families -- and the coaches also and their families -- aren't put at risk."

Cowboys-Steelers Hall Of Fame Game Cancelled

Jun 26, 2020 8:59 AM

The Dallas Cowboys-Pittsburgh Steelers game at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 6 is being canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to league sources.

The Hall of Fame's Aug. 8 enshrinement ceremony is being postponed.

This marks the first time the NFL has had to cancel an event on its calendar because of the pandemic. The league had been able to conduct free agency, albeit in a different way, as well as a virtual NFL draft.

The Cowboys and Steelers are now expected to play in the 2021 Hall of Fame Game.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys Still Battling Over Length Of Contract

Jun 23, 2020 10:27 AM

The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott have until July 15 to work out a multi-year deal.

Prescott wants a four-year deal, but the Cowboys want five, a source has confirmed.

From the quarterback's perspective, a four-year deal easily becomes a five- or six-year deal, thanks to the franchise tag. Prescott will make $31.4 million in 2020 under the franchise tag if a new deal isn't completed by the deadline.

The Cowboys are reportedly "stunned" by Prescott's stance.

If Played, Fans Aren't Likely For Steelers-Cowboys HOF Game

Jun 17, 2020 9:33 AM

If this year's Hall of Fame Game is played, it'll likely be without fans in the stadium.

The game is scheduled for Aug. 6 in Canton, Ohio, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys.

"As much as I hate to say this, because we've all been looking forward to that and I know how much it means to the Canton area and the Stark County area and, really, across the country, it's a great, great event that we've been looking forward to, [but] having a crowd that size is highly unlikely," Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said. "Certainly, it could not occur today. It would be very dangerous to do it today.

"Again, we have to see where we are at that point, but that's a large crowd, a lot of people together. These are the things that we've talked about all the way through this as we open Ohio up and we get back to work and we get back to doing the things that we like, probably the last things that are going to be able to be open are the big crowds, particularly when you have big crowds that are close together. So we have to continue to look at it and make decisions as we move forward, but if the question was, 'could that even occur today?' the answer would be, 'no.'"

Michael Irvin: Cowboys Should Give Dak Prescott 'Back Pay'

Jun 8, 2020 8:55 AM

Michael Irvin believes the Dallas Cowboys should not only sign Dak Prescott to a huge contract, but they should also consider giving him "back pay" to make up for how underpaid he's been for his first four seasons.

"Dak has been not great, but perfect. Not necessarily in wins and losses, of course. But I'm talking about just the person that he's been. The kind of investment you want to make, the kind of guy you say 'yeah, we hit it with this guy. We got him in the fourth round.' You stole four years, so whatever he gets he deserves because you still owe him back pay," Irvin told the Dallas Morning News.

Through four seasons, the Cowboys have paid Prescott less than $5 million in total.

He's set to make $31.4 million on the franchise tag if he and the Cowboys can't agree to a long-term deal.

Born to a black father and Native American and white mother, Prescott said being multiracial "is beautiful and that is what this country is."
