Jets Unlikely To Extend, Trade Jamal Adams In Near Future

May 26, 2020 9:19 AM

No change is imminent for Jamal Adams, according to a report.

The safety is seeking a long-term deal and the New York Jets want to sign him to one, but trade rumors have persisted.

"The Jets would like to do a long-term deal, they're just in the situation of basically every other team right now in the NFL of making sure that everything is going according to plan, making sure that the season really does start on time before they dig into some long-term extensions," Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network.

"Of course, Jamal Adams wants one right now, who doesn't? It does not sound like that's going to happen."

Rapoport hasn't ruled out the Dallas Cowboys making a run at a trade for Adams if they are able to extend Dak Prescott.

Cowboys Offer Dak Prescott NFL's 2nd Highest Contract

May 22, 2020 1:29 PM

The Dallas Cowboys have offered Dal Prescott a contract that would make him the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL in terms of average per year.

Russell Wilson currently has the NFL's richest contract at $35 million per season.

Prescott would receive guaranteed money on par with Jared Goff's $110 million guarantee with the Los Angeles Rams.

Prescott will make at least $31.4 million in salary in 2020 on the franchise tag.

The next important date to remember is July 15. Without a long-term contract signed by that date, Prescott will have to play on the tag throughout the 2020 season and cannot sign a long-term deal with the Cowboys until after the season ends.

NFL Reinstates Cowboys' Aldon Smith Conditionally

May 21, 2020 8:47 AM

Aldon Smith has been granted conditional reinstatement by the NFL from an indefinite suspension for violation of the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies, according to sources.

The decision allows Smith to take part in meetings with Dallas Cowboys coaches and teammates in the virtual offseason program.

The 30-year-old defensive end has not played in an NFL game since he was suspended as a member of the Oakland Raiders in 2015 because of legal and substance abuse issues.

Now that he has been reinstated, Smith will receive $90,000 from the Cowboys as part of the one-year deal he signed in April that could be worth up to $4 million.
