Cowboys Haven't Ruled Out Reunion With Dez Bryant

Feb 28, 2020 7:54 AM

Jerry Jones hasn't ruled out bringing Dez Bryant back to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys released the wide receiver following the 2017 season.

"I've been thinking about it a lot in the shower," Jones said. "I have been. I'm not dismissing it. I don't want to sound like it should be dismissed by saying it. I'm thinking about it."

Bryant has been working out very close to the team's facility in Frisco, Texas. He suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his first practice with the New Orleans Saints in 2018. He was not on a roster last season.

Mike McCarthy: Dak Prescott Is QB To Get Cowboys A Title

Feb 27, 2020 8:45 AM

Mike McCarthy has a lot of confidence in Dak Prescott as the right quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

"I think No. 1, you just look at what he's done during his time in the league. I think he's been impressive," McCarthy said of Prescott.

"I've been impressed with him since the first time I saw him play live up in Green Bay [in 2016], when they came to Lambeau there. First impressions, I think are very important when you see quarterbacks on the field because in-person evaluations, particularly at that position, have always carried more weight as far as how I felt about a player. So I think he's gotten off to a great start. He's built a really good foundation. I'm told he's a tremendous leader.

"Defenses get you to the championship. The quarterbacks win championships. And I definitely think Dak is that quarterback."

Prescott posted career-highs in passing yards (4,902) and touchdowns passes (30) last season.

McCarthy said he has been in touch with Prescott since taking over as head coach in January, but what's not clear is how much Prescott will be around during the offseason.

Cowboys Prefer Deal Over Franchise Tag With Dak Prescott

Feb 25, 2020 11:36 AM

Stephen Jones remains confident the Dallas Cowboys can reach a long-term contract agreement with Dak Prescott before the organization will need to use the franchise tag.

There are no talks scheduled, but Jones plans to meet with agent Todd France at some point this week during the NFL scouting combine.

Jones added that there is no scenario in which the Cowboys would move on from Prescott in 2020.

"I mean, Dak's our quarterback. He's our quarterback for the future and we have nothing but the greatest respect for him," Jones said. "He's a competitor. He's won a lot of football games for us. Obviously, he, like us, we all want to take that next step and get into a championship game and get to the big game and ultimately win a championship. So there's no thoughts like that."

Tua Tagovailoa's Ideal Landing Spot Would Be With Cowboys

Feb 21, 2020 7:47 AM

If Tua Tagovailoa had the choice, he'd be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys this spring.

The Alabama quarterback said he grew up a fan of the franchise.

"We've looked at teams," Tagovailoa told NFL Network. "We've talked about teams. We've talked to teams. Somebody might trade up and you could possibly drop or you could possibly go higher. We've been talking about all those scenarios.

"If you're saying to me, if I can choose what team I want to play on, as far as my favorite team growing up, then I probably tell you the Cowboys."

Dallas holds the 17th overall pick and has Dak Prescott on the roster.

"I'm not trying to bump him. I'll learn under him," Tagovailoa said of Prescott. "I'd handle it the way that the coaches there want to handle it. Honestly, I just want to be able play again. I wouldn't mind learning under whatever guy that's the starter. Give me a whole year to rest up and then go back out and compete, but I just want to go back out and play."

Jason Witten Wants To Play In 2020, Open To Other Teams

Feb 19, 2020 8:17 AM

Jason Witten wants to play another season in the NFL and is open to the idea of doing so with a team other than the Dallas Cowboys.

"I think I have to be," the tight end said when asked if he's open to playing elsewhere. "Obviously, I'd love to finish it out here, but some of those things are not in your control."

Witten met with Mike McCarthy not long after he was named the coach of the Cowboys. He has also had conversations with Jerry and Stephen Jones.

He said he will have more discussions after next week's scouting combine in Indianapolis but before free agency begins on March 18.

Cowboys Will Push To Extend Dak Prescott By March 10th

Feb 11, 2020 11:08 AM

The Dallas Cowboys are pushing to sign Dak Prescott to a long-term extension before the March 10th franchise tag deadline.

The Cowboys are expected to use the franchise tag on Prescott if they're unable to sign him to an extension. The Cowboys, however, could use the tag on Amari Cooper or Byron Jones if they extend Prescott before the deadline.

The Cowboys and Prescott have had their talks stall in recent weeks.
