Jay Cutler Out At Least Four Weeks With Torn Groin

Oct 28, 2014 2:25 PM

Jay Cutler will miss at least the next four weeks with a torn groin muscle.

"I'm only confident by what they've told me. This is a minimum of four weeks. Then he'll be evaluated week to week," said Marc Trestman. "Four weeks is a reasonable start. And then it'll be week to week. I'm encouraged by the prognosis."

Josh McCown takes over as the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears.

Jay Cutler left the Chicago Bears' loss to the Washington Redskins in the second quarter with a groin injury.

Cutler Loses Just 2nd Game Of Career With 100+ Passer Rating

Jul 18, 2014 4:27 AM

The Chicago Bears lost 26-18 to the New Orleans Saints in Week 5 despite Jay Cutler finishing the game with a 128.1 passer rating.

Cutler had only lost one of 27 games as a starter with a passer rating of 100 or better.

“There were a few downs that we missed. There was a big fourth down going in that we missed. We weren’t as efficient in the red zone,” Cutler said. “A few plays here and there against a team like that, the way they played offensively and ate up the clock, it’s hard to rebound if you miss three or four plays.”

Alshon Jeffery Breaks Bears' Receiving Record With 218 Yards

Dec 6, 2014 7:35 PM

Alshon Jeffery finished Week 5 with 218 yards on 10 receptions, breaking a 59-year-old franchise record.

The Chicago Bears' previous single-game mark of 214 receiving yards was set in 1954 by Harlon Hill.

The Bears lost the game 26-18 to the New Orleans Saints.

“It’s not about what I did; it’s about what the team did, and we didn’t get the win,” Jeffery said. “So that’s what I focus on. I feel like what I did out there. … I’m more concerned about the W, not about what I did. It’s a team thing. There were eleven guys that took for me to get 200-plus yards or whatever I had.”

Trestman 'Encouraged' By Cutler Despite Week 4 Struggles

Jul 4, 2014 12:16 PM

Jay Cutler struggled in Week 4, going 27-for-47 for 317 yards and a passer rating of 65.6 against the Detroit Lions.

Cutler had more high percentage throws in the first three weeks.

"I'm encouraged," Marc Trestman said. "I see him do so many things in practice, moving his feet and doing the right things. But he's got to hang onto the ball on the quick threw he had to the left backed up. He dropped the ball down. He put it in one hand. He's got to have it in two hands, and he's got to throw it away or move on. He was trying to make something happen late and he let his fundamentals go. These are things he's done better this year, and we're going to work at them. We're in Game 4 and know we've got to get better. That's what we'll attempt to do this week."
