Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is healthy and ready to face the Rams this weekend. Fitzgerald has started all 92 games, plus each of Arizona's eight postseason contests, since he came into the NFL. He had been dealing with a knee injury this preseason. "He was moving along just fine," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "He is progressing very well. I know he's ready to play because it's been tough for him to watch the last two weeks."

Matt Leinart is excited to have signed a one-year deal with the Texans following his release from the Cardinals last week. "I'm excited for this opportunity," Leinart said. "I'm looking for a new start. Obviously, things didn't go the way I wanted (at Arizona), but it's time to move on. "Apparently, Seattle is satisfied with its two quarterbacks, Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst, despite Whitehurst's inconsistent play this summer. But the club paid a steep price to acquire Whitehurst from San Diego and envisions him as Hasselbeck's successor, and the Seahawks didn't want to complicate the situation by introducing another young quarterback," Judge writes.

The Cardinals have released quarterback Matt Leinart, ending a rocky stint with the team that began with fanfare as he was drafted 10th overall in 2006 and ended this preseason with the former USC star taking a backseat to Derek Anderson. The team announced the decision to release the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Saturday. according to an Associated Press report.
