Antrel Rolle Wouldn't Mind Playing For Dolphins

Sep 26, 2014 10:40 AM

Antrel Rolle is in limbo because the Cardinals are scheduled to pay him $12 million in salary and a bonus in 2010. The two sides could enter renegotiate a new deal or cut ties. "That would be nice," Rolle told the Miami Herald of playing for his hometown Dolphins. "You know what I mean. I would love to take some of the burden off of mom and dad seeing as they travel to every game. Miami is home for me. I haven't played here in five years, but hey, we can make it happen." Rolle repeated that his parents fly across country to every game he plays. "I'm still a Cardinal right now, you know," he said. "I don't know what's going to happen. But I love the Cardinals and their organization. I've been good to them and they've been great to me also. Let's just see what plays out. "I don't know what's going to play out. They haven't given me any indication. I know they want to keep me there. We're trying to keep our franchise together, but I don't know what they're thinking right now."

Whisenhunt: Leinart Has Shot To Lead Cardinals

Sep 10, 2014 3:12 PM

With Kurt Warner retiring, the Cardinals may have to turn to Matt Leinart as their quarterback next season. "We've got plenty of time to sort things out," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Matt's not a rookie. He's been in this offense for three years. He's worked everyday with a guy that was playing at a high a level as anybody in the game and understands a lot more now about what he has to do to prepare in this offense." Leinart has 17 starts in his four NFL seasons and he has been inconsistent.

Warner Ends NFL Career

Aug 6, 2014 12:55 PM

Kurt Warner has called an end to one of the great storybook careers in NFL history, as reported by the Associated Press. The 38-year-old quarterback announced his retirement from the game on Friday after a dozen years in a league that at first rejected him, then revered him as he came from nowhere to lead the lowly Rams to two Super Bowls, winning the first of them. Written off as a has-been, he rose again to lead the long-suffering Cardinals to the Super Bowl a year ago. ?I?m excited about what?s next,? Warner said. ?Before I was always excited about next season.? Warner walked away with a year left on a two-year, $23M contract, knowing he still had the skills to play at the highest level.

Kurt Warner continues to contemplate retirement as he recovers from another NFL season. "This is the sorest I've ever been," says Warner. Warner was asked what his wife meant that his decision on whether or not to retire is between himself and God. "It means I pray that God takes away the desire in me to play this game," he says. "I've loved it for so long. I need Him to take that away from me, so that I can be comfortable with this decision."

Leinart Realizes He May Finally Get Another Shot

May 20, 2014 5:15 AM

Matt Leinart has a lot invested in whether or not Kurt Warner retires. "For me, I can't worry about what I can't control," said Leinart, who has been Warner's backup for much of his career since being drafted in 2006 out of Southern California. "I can't control what he's going to do. I can only control what I do. I feel like I work as hard as anybody in the off-season. "As far as physically, mentally, that's what I'm going to do this off-season. I do realize there is a good chance that he will retire and my opportunity will finally come. We'll see. I'm going to prepare this off-season like I did past off-season, probably even work harder. We'll just see what happens."
