Cardinals starting inside linebacker Gerald Hayes underwent back surgery this summer and is not expected to practice when training camp begins next week.
Hayes, a four-year starter, had been bothered by a bulging disk since last season.
Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt said Hayes underwent "a procedure" on his back several weeks ago and will be evaluated next week when players take physicals before reporting to camp in Flagstaff on July 30.

Fitzgerald's Camp Turns Into WR Hot Spot
Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald has turned his hometown of Minneapolis into a hot spot for NFL wide receivers.
Fitzgerald is holding his annual camp that helps NFL players and some still in college prepare for the start of the upcoming season.
Cris Carter, Jerry Rice, Greg Jennings and Brandon Marshall have attended the camp in the past.
Dockett Criticizes Kerry Rhodes
Arizona's Darnell Dockett has no problem publicly criticizing fellow players and teammates, especially via Twitter.
On Monday, Dockett criticized new teammate Kerry Rhodes.
"@kerryrhodes u taking all these trips ... I hope u getting ready to play some FOOTBALL cuz Antrel Rolle would be ready #IMJUSTSAYING," Dockett wrote on his Twitter page.
Arizona's Lutui Sworn In As U.S. Citizen
Cardinals guard Deuce Lutui was among more than 200 people sworn in as newly naturalized U.S. citizens on Friday in Arizona.
Lutui was born in the South Pacific nation of Tonga, but grew up in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa.
He started the process back in 2001, but the Sept. 11 attacks caused delays.
