Pete Carroll: Seahawks In 'Fantastic Place' With Russell Wilson

Apr 29, 2021 8:23 AM

Pete Carroll says all is well between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

Carroll spoke to reporters on Wednesday for the first time since Wilson publicly voiced his frustrations about the organization in February.

"There was some stuff that was said that had to be dealt with, and it has been," Carroll said. "So Russ is in a great place right now, and he's been in a great place throughout the offseason. We have communicated throughout all of the things just like I always have."

Aldon Smith Turns Himself In Over Battery Charge

Apr 22, 2021 8:09 AM

Aldon Smith turned himself in Tuesday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with an alleged battery in the New Orleans area, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end was booked and released Wednesday on $25,000 bond. Smith is scheduled to be arraigned July 14.

An arrest warrant was issued for Smith on Monday for an alleged second-degree battery that occurred Saturday evening. Smith allegedly choked a victim unconscious during a confrontation that began inside a coffee shop in Chalmette, Louisiana.

Two days before the alleged incident, the Seahawks signed Smith, 31, to a one-year deal worth $1,127,500.

In a statement Monday, the Seahawks said, "We are aware of the reports regarding Aldon Smith. Aldon notified us and we are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time."

Tyler Lockett Wants To Finish Career With Seahawks

Apr 14, 2021 8:53 AM

After inking a four-year extension earlier this month, Tyler Lockett is hopeful that he'll be able to finish his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

"I would love to finish my career as a Seattle Seahawk," Lockett said. "That's why I said it was an amazing feeling that they even wanted to keep me on the team even longer. I understand this is a business. I understand that sometimes business moves are made and sometimes it works out in the best interests of ourselves as players and sometimes it doesn’t — it benefits other players. So just to be able to see how they feel about me, understand how they feel about me, it brings that type of feeling to me that, you know, they want me here just as much as I want to be here.

"And who wouldn’t want to finish their career with a team that loves them just as much as you love them?"

Broncos, Buccaneers, Seahawks To Skip Voluntary Workouts

Apr 14, 2021 8:47 AM

Players from the Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks will not report to their respective team facilities next week to begin voluntary offseason workouts, the teams said in statements released by the NFL Players Association on Tuesday.

In their statement, the Broncos players cited rising COVID-19 positivity rates in Denver, as well as the lack of "adequate protocols in place."

The players voted to take this action and notified Vic Fangio earlier Tuesday morning that the vote had taken place, according to sources.

The Seahawks players issued a similar statement in which they noted, "The NFLPA has provided us with thorough research and information regarding our safety as players as we enter voluntary workouts this year, especially the benefits on our health and safety from a virtual off-season last year. After considering all the facts, we as a team have decided to make a decision that is uncomfortable but necessary."

Offseason programs are scheduled to begin April 19 leaguewide, at which point daily testing for players and staff will commence.

Russell Wilson Assured Carlos Dunlap He Planned To Remain With Seattle

Apr 6, 2021 8:38 PM

Before Carlos Dunlap signed with the Seattle Seahawks last month, he was assured by Russell Wilson that the quarterback plans to stay with the franchise.

"I did ask him if, obviously, he was going to be with us, because if I'm coming back, I'm coming back because I see him as my quarterback, and the rest of the team, I want to pick up where we left off," Dunlap said Tuesday. "And he told me he's with us and he's here to stay, and he said, 'Let's go, Hawks.' I'm not going to quote his every word. These words are not his words verbatim, but these are my explanation of how I interpreted what he said."

Wilson was interested in a trade this offseason and put the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears on his list of teams in which he would approve a trade.

Dunlap's two-year deal is worth $13.6 million with $8.5 million in guarantees.
