Josh Gordon Has Setback In Recovery

Dec 23, 2020 8:59 AM

Josh Gordon has experienced another setback in his recovery from substance abuse, according to a source.

The news comes as the wide receiver was preparing to return to the field for the first time since he was indefinitely suspended by the NFL last December.

Gordon and the Seattle Seahawks were notified Tuesday that the NFL determined the receiver had not satisfied the terms of his conditional reinstatement. That makes him ineligible to practice or play in games for the time being.

He had been set to begin practicing Wednesday with a chance to play in Week 16.

Seahawks Add Josh Gordon To Roster

Dec 22, 2020 7:01 AM

The Seattle Seahawks have added Josh Gordon to the roster ahead of Week 16's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Seattle waived fellow wide receiver Penny Hart to make room for Gordon.

This is the first week in which Gordon, back from his indefinite suspension, is eligible to practice with the Seahawks and play in a game.

"We've got to get him on the practice field and see what he looks like and all," Pete Carroll said. "He's been working out really hard. I've been able to watch his workouts on video a couple times here to see that he's in really good shape -- he's really big and strong, too. So we're excited to see how he does. We are planning the week like he has a chance to contribute, so we'll see. We'll hold out a good hope and thought and see where it fits."

Seahawks' Jamal Adams Sets DB Mark For Sacks

Dec 14, 2020 8:38 AM

Jamal Adams made NFL history on Sunday, setting the single-season record for sacks by a defensive back with 8.5 in the Seattle Seahawks' 40-3 win over the New York Jets.

Pete Carroll gave Adams the game ball after the victory.

Adams called the gesture "pretty cool" and a sign of how much the organization supports him.

"It's a pretty cool feeling when you put your mind to something, because I told myself and I told everybody last year when I did fail with 6.5 sacks and I got hurt, I told everybody that I was going to break the record," he said. "Some people thought I was crazy, some people believed in me. But the only thing that mattered is that I believed in myself. I knew that I was going to break the record."

Shaquill Griffin Says Seahawks Took Giants Lightly

Dec 11, 2020 8:18 AM

Shaquill Griffin says the Seattle Seahawks didn't give the New York Giants enough respect in last Sunday's surprising loss.

"That team was not supposed to beat us. Let"s be totally honest," Griffin said of the 17-12 loss. "They were not supposed to win that game, and we have to live with that. That’s the taste in our mouth that no one ever wants. That’s the part that you can’t go on with. We don’t want that feeling anymore.

"We let that game get the best of us. We came in taking the team lightly, just being totally honest. In this league, you can lose to anybody if you don’t play right. I feel like we took that game lightly, and our focus point now is just refocusing – treating every team the same, like a championship game that we preach about. We’ve just got to live by it."

Chris Carson Still 'Not 100 Percent' After Foot Injury

Dec 7, 2020 8:48 AM

Pete Carroll says Chris Carson is still dealing with effects of the foot injury that sidelined him for four games.

"He's making it to the game is what he's doing it right now," the Seattle Seahawks coach said. "His foot is still sore but he can play, so you can see, he looked good, but it's just not 100 percent and so we're trying to not overload him."

Carson carried the ball 13 times for 65 yards in Seattle's 17-12 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. He also caught three of six targets for 45 yards and a touchdown.

He was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday because of his foot. He was a full participant on Friday.

"We've got a lot of games left and we're just trying to make sure that he can play and contribute, which is what he's doing," Carroll said. "And I thought they handled that pretty well. But he's not to the point where we can just let him stay out there and keep on going and let's run him 25-30 times and see what happens, so we're still trying to bring him along."

Seahawks' Defense No Longer On Record Pace In Yards Allowed

Dec 4, 2020 8:57 AM

The Seattle Seahawks still rank last in the NFL in yards allowed, but they are no longer on pace to set a record for futility.

Earlier this season Seattle was on pace to set a new NFL record for the most yards allowed. They’re now on pace to allow 6,689 yards, far from the 2012 New Orleans Saints' record of 7,042 yards allowed.

DK Metcalf Makes Eagles 'Pay' With Career-High Night

Dec 1, 2020 9:29 AM

DK Metcalf caught 10 passes for a career-high 177 yards in the Seattle Seahawks' 23-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

Metcalf had a breakout performance in Philadelphia back in January when he set an NFL rookie postseason record in Seattle's wild-card win over the Eagles.

"It's kind of like coming home," the second-year receiver said. "A place that had a chance to draft me but didn't, so I've got to make them pay."

Metcalf has a league-leading 1,039 receiving yards through 11 games. He accounted for 77% of the Seahawks' 230 receiving yards Monday.
