Jamal Adams Plans To Retire With Seahawks

Jul 31, 2020 9:13 AM

After months of fighting, sometimes publicly, with the New York Jets over his contract and future, Jamal Adams is thrilled to be with the Seattle Seahawks.

"When I got the call, honestly, I broke down in tears of joy," Adams said of last weekend's trade. "A lot of mixed emotions. I'm gonna miss a lot of the guys over there. But at the end of the day, man, this was my calling. This was where I need to be."

Adams has two years left on his rookie contract. The massive haul, including two first-round picks, that the Seahawks gave up appears to indicate long-term interest in the safety, but a new deal won't be reached in 2020.

"The plan is to retire here," the 24-year-old said. "This is my plan. But obviously, those things handle themselves. When all you have to do is just go on the field and perform, do the right things on and off the field, and those things will take care of itself, man. So I'm very excited to be here. I know the rest of the guys are excited to have me, and the coaching staff, and everybody else. So again, man, we'll worry about that when the time comes."

Seahawks Will Wait Until 2021 To Extend Jamal Adams

Jul 29, 2020 9:21 AM

The Seattle Seahawks gave up a huge haul to acquire Jamal Adams from the New York Jets, but they are in no rush to extend the All-Pro safety's contract.

Seattle sent two first-round picks to New York as part of the package.

According to sources, the Seahawks plan to wait until next year to open extension talks with Adams. There is a lot of uncertainty about what the COVID-19 pandemic will do to the NFL's salary cap going forward.

Russell Wilson Pushing For Seahawks To Sign Antonio Brown

Jul 28, 2020 2:40 PM

Antonio Brown recently called on the NFL to complete its investigation of his off-field issues, apparently with interest in resuming his football career.

A report indicated that the league could hand down any potential discipline for Brown this week.

If the suspension is short enough, the Seattle Seahawks could show renewed interest in the wide receiver.

Russell Wilson is known to be advocating for the Seahawks to sign Brown. The pair have worked out together in California this summer.

Seahawks, Jamal Adams Agreed To Table Extension Talks For 2020

Jul 27, 2020 1:27 PM

After lobbying for a contract extension with the New York Jets, Jamal Adams agreed to table extension talks with the Seattle Seahawks for this year.

The Jets traded the All-Pro safety to the Seahawks on Saturday.

It was initially unclear if Adams facilitated the trade by verbally agreeing to an extension with Seattle. However, the two sides reportedly agreed to table talks until 2021.

Adams is only guaranteed to earn $3.59 million in 2020.

If Seattle is unable to sign Adams long-term, they'll have paid a premium for one season. They sent safety Bradley McDougald, a 2021 third-round pick and two first-round picks in exchange for Adams and a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Seahawks Trade Two First Rounders To Jets For Jamal Adams

Jul 25, 2020 8:27 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Jamal Adams from the New York Jets for first round picks in each of the next two seasons.

The Seahawks will send Bradley McDougald, first round picks in 2021 and 2022, and a third round pick in 2021.

Adams requested a trade one month ago.

"While we had maintained our interest in Jamal Adams having a long successful career with the Jets, we know it's important to be prepared and willing to adjust to new offers and circumstances," Douglas said in part in a statement. "As I have always said, my job is to listen to calls and this offer was one we could not ignore."

The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers were also in discussions on a trade.

Fox Signs Greg Olsen To Be No. 2 Game Analyst Upon Retirement

Jul 13, 2020 4:55 PM

Greg Olsen has signed a deal with Fox Sports to be its No. 2 game analyst when he retires.

Olsen will be paired with Kevin Burkhardt.

Fox executives tried to sign Olsen even after he agreed to sign with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason.

The move is similar to what NBC did with Drew Brees.

Fox lost its former No. 2, Charles Davis, to CBS.
