Bobby Wagner Wants Play In 2022, Future With Seahawks Uncertain

Dec 30, 2021 2:20 PM

Bobby Wagner wants to continue his playing career in 2022, but admits his future is uncertain with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wagner is the final defensive player still with the Seahawks from their Legion of Boom run. Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett left the team following the 2017 season, while Earl Thomas departed in 2018, and K.J. Wright left after 2020.

“You think about it,” Wagner said Wednesday. “You think about what the next year looks like, and just, period, what the future holds because this was a season that I don’t think we all planned for. We didn’t plan for the season to go this way. And so obviously there’s going to be some changes. And whether or not I’m part of those changes, I don’t know. But all I can control is these last two games. And you know, figure it out from there, whatever the team thinks is the best thing to do moving forward. We’ll see how that plays out.”

Pete Carroll Advocates Against Major Rebuild For Seahawks

Dec 28, 2021 8:10 AM

Pete Carroll is advocating for a retool instead of a rebuild for the Seattle Seahawks.

"Not for one reason at all am I thinking that we have to restart this whole thing and create a new philosophy and a new approach and all that," he told 710 ESPN Seattle on Monday. "I don't think that. I think we've got the essence of the things that we need. We've got to build on them, we've got to support it better and we've got to continue to grow and progress. There ain't no standing still, but there's the foundation for doing things."

Carroll volunteered that thought when asked a general question on his weekly radio show about the team's future.

This will be only the third season in which the Seahawks will miss the playoffs.

Pete Carroll: I Have To Do More

Dec 27, 2021 1:40 PM

The Seattle Seahawks will have their first losing season since 2011 and lost to the Chicago Bears on Sunday despite facing a third-string quarterback.

The Seahawks were leading by 10 points at halftime and by the same margin in the fourth quarter.

Pete Carroll admitted he has to do a better job as head coach.

"That was about as disappointing of a loss as we've had," Carroll said postgame. "We were in control in so many ways in that game to go win it and put it away; we just never did and let them stay alive, and they found a way to make their plays. We had to do some stuff to give them that opportunity, and they took advantage of it, and give them credit. They've been struggling all year too, and it's a big win for those guys.

"I feel like I have to do more. In a time like this, I feel like I've got to find ways to help our guys more so that we don't get in a situation where we even give them a chance."

Adrian Peterson Still Playing For 'Love Of The Game'

Dec 2, 2021 10:06 PM

Adrian Peterson says he agreed to join the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad at 36 years old because he still loves football.

"Just the love for the game," he said. "I love the game. I feel like I can still compete at a high level. Just having the opportunity to help teams, to inspire guys. That's one of the most rewarding things. When I see guys, and they say to me, 'Man, just keep doing what you're doing,' it's so inspiring."

Peterson was waived by the Tennessee Titans late last month.

Seahawks Sign Adrian Peterson To Practice Squad

Dec 1, 2021 10:24 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Adrian Peterson to their practice squad.

"Excited to see if he can help us out and give us a little something," Pete Carroll said. "He's a player that I've known forever -- way back to his high-school days -- and admired him tremendously over the years. Always disappointed we didn't get him back in the day, but like I just told him, we finally got him. So I'm looking forward to seeing how he does and where he can fit in. He's an incredible competitor and a great guy, so I'm anxious to give him a chance to get on the field with our boys."

Peterson was waived last week by the Tennessee Titans.
