Seahawks Decided Not To Pursue Antonio Brown After Due Diligence

Oct 29, 2020 11:22 AM

The Seattle Seahawks decided not to pursue Antonio Brown after performing their due diligence on him.

Brown had contentious exits from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders. Brown also was suspended eight games for multiple Personal Conduct Policy violations. He faces further potential discipline for a pending civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault, based on the evidence developed.

The Seahawks may have acknowledged interest in Brown simply to placate Russell Wilson, who had pushed for them to sign him.

Seahawks Acquire Carlos Dunlap From Bengals

Oct 28, 2020 2:51 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Carlos Dunlap from the Cincinnati Bengals for B.J. Finney and a seventh round pick in the 2021 draft.

The Seahawks' defense has allowed the most yards of any team through six games in NFL history, and their pass rush has been a primary issue.

The Bengals asked Dunlap not to come to the team's facilities as they sought a trading partner.

Dunlap had two years remaining on a contract extension that was set to expire at the end of the 2021 season.

Kyler Murray Calls Win Over Seahawks 'Big Step' For Cardinals

Oct 26, 2020 9:00 AM

The Arizona Cardinals edged the Seattle Seahawks 37-34 in overtime on Sunday night in a back-and-forth battle.

The win moved the Cardinals to 5-2 and was the first loss of the season for the Seahawks.

"These are the games you honestly dream about growing up, watching 'Sunday Night Football' last week, playing on Monday," Kyler Murray said. "These are the games that you want to be a part of, and to be a part of these games, you gotta win, and you gotta keep winning.

"So I'm just super proud of the team, the way we fought, not giving up, no matter the circumstances, just keep battling, keep battling. And that's what we did. So I think that's huge for us to take that next step."

Murray threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns with an interception on 34-for-48 passing. He also had 67 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

"Wanting to be the best, you got to beat the best," he said. "And that's just the nature of this game. In any sport, you got to beat the best. So I think it was a big, big step for us."

Russell Wilson: Antonio Brown Has Taken Right Steps, 'Been Humbled'

Oct 23, 2020 4:19 PM

Russell Wilson believes Antonio Brown deserves another chance in the NFL and he wants it to be with the Seattle Seahawks.

"I think Antonio definitely has taken those steps [in the right direction], and like I said, nobody's perfect," Wilson said. "From the conversations I've had with him, he's really been remorseful and he's been humbled along the way. Like I said, I pray that he can continue to grow, just like anybody."

Wilson has lobbied for the Seahawks to sign Brown. The wide receiver's suspension is eligible to end after Week 8.

The quarterback said he has gotten to know Brown over the past four or five years.

"I think the reality about Antonio is he is one of the best players to play this game obviously," Wilson said. "I think that he has always been a special player in terms of [on] the field. The reality with Antonio is, he's had some tough moments in his life, especially as of late. I think he's gone through a lot of things he wishes he could take back and do, and just not say, whatever it might be. But I think he is a special player, for sure. I don't know what's going to happen with him or not. I don't know how serious it is us getting him or not. But I do know that obviously he can play some football. I think that's the thing. I've developed a personal relationship with him, and not everybody is perfect. And I think that's the reality, none of us are. So hopefully he gets to play football again."

Russell Wilson Lifts Seahawks To First-Ever 5-0 Start

Oct 12, 2020 9:44 AM

Russell Wilson orchestrated the 34th game-winning drive, in the fourth quarter or overtime, of his career on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

Wilson connected with DK Metcalf for a six-yard score with 20 seconds left to give Seattle a 27-26 win and the first 5-0 start in franchise history.

"There is just so much character that goes into being able to have that much poise, to be that clear, to function like that so beautifully throughout those opportunities," Pete Carroll said of Wilson. "He's just as good as you can get. I don't know how anybody could ever be better than what he continues to show us in those situations. He's as good as you can get."

Wilson has 19 touchdowns passes through five games, one shy of Peyton Manning's NFL record.
