Report: Weeden Holding Out For Fourth Guaranteed Year

Brandon Weeden is holding out for a fourth guaranteed year on his rookie contract, according to league sources. The Browns drafted the quarterback with the No. 22 pick in April. Weeden is slated to receive a four-year deal worth about $8.1 million under the NFL's new rookie wage slotting system.

Jim Brown has taken multiple shots at the Browns recently, including a few at rookie running back Trent Richardson. Brown downplayed Richardson as an "ordinary" talent. "I laugh at the situation," Richardson told ESPN.com. "You don't know me from spic to span. But he's Jim Brown. He's done a lot here and I haven't done anything yet. I have a lot to accomplish and big shoes to fill. When it comes down to it, I have to work and make sure I make him a believer. I haven't done anything yet." Reports: Browns Willing To Deal McCoy For Cheap

The Browns are not only shopping Colt McCoy, but they are also willing to trade him for not much in return. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com reported Saturday that the Browns are "looking for minimal compensation." Cleveland drafted Brandon Weeden in April and he is expected to start at quarterback with Seneca Wallace serving as his backup.

Report: Browns Put McCoy On Trade Block

The Browns tried to trade Colt McCoy during April's NFL Draft, according to a report. Concerned with the quarterback's feelings, Cleveland has kept him on their roster despite his lack of a future with the franchise. "When [Brandon] Weeden was drafted, I was told by an NFL source that the Browns didn't want to 'pile on' McCoy and just release him," writes Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "They were sensitive to the fact he had gotten such a raw deal already."

Cleveland drafted rookie Brandon Weeden in April and he is expected to begin the 2012 season as their starting quarterback.
