Flacco, Boldin Give Ravens 23-16 Win Over Browns (+5.6 TC, +13 TRC)

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 3-1 with a close 23-16 win over the Cleveland Browns in what was their fourth game in 18 days.

The Ravens had a +5.6 advantage in The Trench Counter, having a +1.3 advantage in yards per pass, 1.2 in yards per rush while turning the ball over one fewer time. Baltimore had a +13 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Joe Flacco went 28-for-46 for 356 yards, one touchdown and one interception, finding Anquan Boldin for 131 yards on nine receptions and Torrey Smith for 97 yards on six catches. Flacco also had a rushing touchdown in the beginning of the third quarter.

Ray Rice was limited by the Browns' defense, averaging 2.7 yards per carry on 18 carries and eight receptions for 47 yards.

Brandon Weeden went 25-for-52 for 320 yards and an interception. Weeden and the Browns had two chances to tie the game in the final seconds, but his second attempt flew over the end zone.

Trent Richardson rushed 14 times for 47 yards and one touchdown.

The Buffalo Bills improved to 2-1 despite using third-string running back Tashard Choice 20 times for 91 yards following an injury to C.J. Spiller in their 24-14 win at the Cleveland Browns.

The Bills had a +7.1 advantage in the The Trench Counter, averaging 1.1 more yards per pass and 1.6 yards per rush. Buffalo had a +16 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Ryan Fitzpatrick went 22-for-35 for 208 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Mario Williams recorded 1.5 sacks as the Bills got to Brandon Weeden four times in total.

Weeden went 27-for-43 for 237 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Trent Richardson scored a touchdown but was limited to just 2.3 yards per carry.

The Cincinnati Bengals recovered from a rough Week 1 by defeating the Cleveland Browns by a final score of 34-24.

The Bengals had a +2.1 advantage in The Trench Counter, largely due to the Browns losing 103 yards in penalties. The two teams were even in Total Rushes/Completions.

Andy Dalton went 24-for-31 for 318 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Dalton found A.J. Green for a 10-yard touchdown pass, as well as a 44-yard pass to Brandon Tate and an electric 50-yard play to Andrew Hawkins.

Trent Richardson ran the ball extremely well for the Browns, with 19 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, while adding another through the air.

How Football Outsiders' Projections Changed After Week 1

The Denver Broncos had the best DVOA in Week 1 as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by the Baltimore Ravens over the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots over the Tennessee Titans.

Football Outsiders also has a stat calle DAVE, which stands for DVOA Adjusted for Variation Early. After Week 1, DAVE accounts for 90 percent and the current VOA counts for 10 percent.

The Patriots rank first in DAVE at 41.0%, followed by the Falcons, Packers, Bears and Ravens.

Browns To Keep Brandon Weeden As Starter Regardless Of Performance

Brandon Weeden went 12-for-35 for 118 yards, four interceptions and a fumble in his NFL debut in Week 1 for the Cleveland Browns against the Eagles.

Weeden was the 22nd overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft and will turn 29 in October.

The Browns intend to stick with Weeden as the starter regardless of how he progresses.

Colt McCoy remains with the Browns as Weeden's backup.

Joe Banner will officially join the Cleveland Browns as the franchise's top executive in October.

Banner was responsible for the turnaround of the Philadelphia Eagles during his tenure as president.

New Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been working with Banner since he began talks to purchase the franchise.

Mike Holmgren and the Browns are likely to agree to a settlement at some point in the near future.

Vick Throws Four INTs, Eagles Still Beat Browns 17-16 (+2.1 TC)

The Philadelphia Eagles came from behind to defeat the Cleveland Browns 17-16 in Week 1. Michael Vick, who threw four interceptions in the game, found Clay Harbor for a four-yard game-winning touchdown.

The Eagles had a +2.1 advantage in the Trench Counter, as they recorded 25 first downs compared to just 12 for the Browns, while also having better yards per pass and per play averages.

Vick went 29-for-56 for 317 yards, but finished with a 51.0 passer rating.

LeSean McCoy rushed for 110 yards on 20 carries.

Brandon Weeden went 12-for-35 for 118 yards and four interceptions in his NFL debut. Trent Richardson rushed for 39 yards on 19 carries.

Richardson underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early August.

Suspensions for four NFL players connected to the Saints' bounty scandal have been overturned by a three-man arbitration panel, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
