Colt McCoy believes the Browns when they say he'll be given the opportunity to fight for his job in training camp.
Cleveland drafted Brandon Weeden in the first-round last month and they are hoping the rookie will grab the reigns of the starting quarterback position.
Browns general manager Tom Heckert said that the "best guy is going to play" and the Browns selected the 28-year-old Weeden with the No. 22 overall pick "to be that guy."
"This is the card that's been dealt," McCoy said. "I can just say that I'm working as hard as I can. You never know what to expect. One of my favorite quotes by the NAVY Seals is, 'The only easy day was yesterday.' That's just kind of how I have to live right now."

Fujita: Bounty Charges Not True
Browns linebacker Scott Fujita has vowed that he did not participate in the bounty program made famous in New Orleans.
Fujita, suspended for three games by the league for allegedly contributing "a significant amount" of money to a pay-for-hits pool while he played for the Saints, maintained his innocence on Tuesday.
"That is not true," he said.
The 10-year veteran has appealed the penalty handed down by commissioner Roger Goodell.
"Listen," he said. "My reputation is a lot more valuable to me than three game checks (about $644,000). My track record speaks for itself."
Browns Expect Weeden To Start Immediately
The Browns will hold a quarterback competition, but they expect rookie Brandon Weeden to come out on top.
Cleveland general manager Tom Heckert said the team drafted Weeden out of Oklahoma State in the first round with the idea he would start in his first season.
"You can write about it and talk about it however you want," Heckert said. "The best guy is going to play and we fully expect Brandon to be that guy. That's our goal is to have him be the guy. I think when we say, open competition, the best guy's going to play, that's just the way it is. But we drafted Brandon Weeden to be that guy.
"(You) draft a guy 22nd in the draft, you think he's going to be that guy."
Phil Taylor Needs Surgery, Could Miss Season
Browns coach Pat Shurmur has announced that defensive tackle Phil Taylor will need surgery to repair a torn chest muscle and could miss the upcoming season.
"It was just one of those things that happens," Shurmur said. "It's unfortunate."
Taylor tore his left pectoral muscle while doing bench presses in the weight room on Thursday.
Browns Aren't Interested In Plaxico Burress
The Browns aren't yet interested in free-agent Plaxico Burress.
"We haven't talked about Plax right now," coach Pat Shurmur said.
The inclusion of "right now" implies that, eventually, Cleveland could be interested.
Phil Taylor Injures Chest Lifting Weights
Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor's season could be in jeopardy after he injured a chest muscle lifting weights on Thursday.
The team said Taylor hurt his left pectoral muscle while working out during the team's offseason conditioning program. Taylor will undergo an MRI on Friday, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter
Shurmur: Weeden Must Earn QB Job
Browns coach Pat Shurmur is making it clear rookie QB Brandon Weeden will not be handed the starting job.
Weeden, drafted with the No. 22 overall pick, will take the field for the first time on Friday when Cleveland opens its rookie minicamp. On a conference call, Shurmur said he's eager to see the Oklahoma State QB perform and the Browns aren't going to christen him their new starter because "we don't give anybody anything."
Weeden 'Ready' To Start Right Away
At 28 years old, Brandon Weeden is not your average rookie quarterback.
"I feel like I'm ready," Weeden said when asked if he is ready to start immediately.
"I have a long way to go, but I feel like I've taken the right steps to get to where I can play at that level. If I'm asked to be the guy Day One, I'm going to do everything on my part to put our team in position to win games and score points. I'm really anxious to get going and the season will be here before you know it."
