Tension Rising Between Daniel Snyder, Other Owners

Feb 28, 2023 9:08 AM

Tensions are rising between Daniel Snyder and the NFL's other owners, according to a report.

The Washington Post has confirmed multiple reports that Snyder is blocking Jeff Bezos from bidding on the Commanders. The Post also reports that Snyder has now demanded that other owners indemnify him against any future legal liability and expenses if he sells the team.

The Commanders issued a statement regarding the item on Monday night.

"The story posted tonight by the Washington Post regarding the transaction process involving the Washington Commanders is simply untrue," the team said.

Per the report, Snyder's request for indemnification has angered some owners. It also reportedly has angered Roger Goodell.

Daniel Snyder Not Allowing Jeff Bezos To Bid On Commanders

Feb 25, 2023 9:37 PM

Jeff Bezos will not be allowed by Daniel Snyder to bid on the Washington Commanders.

Bezos owns the Washington Post, which published a series of stories documenting a culture of sexual harassment at the team that ultimately helped build the pressure to sell.

“It’s a free country, he can sell to whomever he wants,” the person briefed on the sale process said.

Bezos did not make an offer in the first round of bidding that closed recently.

Those bids were reportedly less than $6 billion.

Sam Howell Will Remain QB1 For Commanders After Eric Bieniemy Hire

Feb 20, 2023 8:57 AM

The Washington Commanders have hired Eric Bieniemy as their new offensive coordinator, but that won't change Sam Howell's status as the team's expected starting quarterback.

It was reported last month that the Commanders were telling potential candidates for the position that Howell would enter offseason workouts as the QB1.

Howell was taken in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of North Carolina.

Sam Howell Will Begin Offseason As Washington's QB1

Feb 9, 2023 8:19 AM

The Washington Commanders plan to begin the offseason with Sam Howell as their starting quarterback.

Ron Rivera added that the Commanders won't spend a lot to acquire a veteran quarterback as they did last offseason with Carson Wentz.

"Going in, [Howell will] start as the No. 1 but it's something he has to continue to earn and show us he deserves to be that guy," Rivera said.

Washington traded two third-round picks to the Indianapolis Colts for Wentz in 2022 while also picking up his $28 million hit on the salary cap.
