The Washington Commanders aren't going to be going back to their old nickname, says president Jason Wright.

 "Going back to the old name is not being considered. Period," Wright said in a radio interview.

Josh Harris used Washington's old nickname twice during public comments when he took over the team from Daniel Snyder.

There had been speculation that the team could abandon the "Commanders" as a name just a year after adopting it.

An MRI revealed no major damage to Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin's right big toe, according to a source.

The news leaves the Commanders optimistic about his availability for the Sept. 10 season opener.

McLaurin sprained his toe in the second quarter of Monday's 29-28 preseason victory over the Baltimore Ravens. He underwent X-rays at the stadium, which were negative, and had the MRI on Tuesday.

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Washington Commanders 29-28 on Monday night, ending the team's 24-game preseason winning streak.

Joey Slye's 49-yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining clinched the victory for the Commanders. The Ravens hadn't lost in the preseason since 2015.

"The thing about something like that -- I just told our guys -- you're proud of it and you appreciate it," John Harbaugh said. "But the thing that you're proud of is all those games are mostly like that."

Harbaugh later added, "It's one of these things you look at and you go, 'Wow, how did that happen? How did something like that take place?' It's pretty remarkable. What are the odds?"

The average NFL franchise has increased in value by 24 percent over the past 12 months reaching $5.14 billion.

Collectively, the NFL’s 32 teams are worth $165 billion, including team-related business and real estate held by owners.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL and across all sports leagues globally at $9.2 billion. The Cowboys had an operating profit of $460 million in 2022.

The New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams rank second and third at $7.04 billion and $6.98 billion respectively. The New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers round out the top-5.

Ron Rivera said some Washington Commanders players have expressed concern over new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy's intensity during practice.

However, Bieniemy, also the assistant head coach, said he's not about to change his approach.

"I'm always going to be loud, always going to be vocal, always going to demand from my leaders," Bieniemy said, adding he knows what would happen if he altered his belief.

"If I ain't doing my job, my ass gets fired. It's my job and my responsibility to make sure I'm getting our guys to do what I'm expecting them to do."
