The Washington Commanders have decided not to pick up their 2024 option on Chase Young. The option was worth $17.452 million as Young was the second overall pick in the 2020 draft.

Young was Defensive Rookie of the Year, but his ACL injury in 2021 limited him to three games last season.

The Commanders could still re-sign Young even though they're taking a wait and see approach now.

The Josh Harris group has sent its bid to purchase the Washington Commanders to the NFL league office to review.

The ownership group reached an agreement in principle with Dan and Tanya Snyder last week to purchase the Commanders for $6.05 billion.

The offer was considered non-exclusive, leaving the door ajar for another group to perhaps win the bidding. 

If the league approves the terms of Harris' offer, both sides would need to sign it and then submit it to the NFL's eight-member finance committee for an official review. 

The earliest the NFL could vote on a new owner would be May 22-24 in Minneapolis.

Despite multiple reports that the Washington Commanders will be sold to Josh Harris, ESPN is disputing the notion that Daniel Snyder has agreed to sell the team to Harris.

Per ESPN, Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos remains in the mix for the team.

An unnamed source said it's "a head-to-head race. ... It’s anyone's game."

Dan Snyder has reached agreement in principle to sell the Washington Commanders to a group led by Josh Harris for $6 billion. Harris’ group, includes billionaire Mitchell Rales and Magic Johnson.

Harris and Snyder are hoping to execute a contract in the coming days.

Harris is a founder of Apollo Global Management and also owns the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils and Crystal Palace.

Jeff Bezos has decided not to bid on the Washington Commanders, a source tells FrontOfficeSports.

Bezos hired the sports banking firm Allen & Company to explore a bid for the team in February.

The revelation leaves the group headed by Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris as the only current contender for the team. 

The Washington Commanders have settled a lawsuit filed by the District of Columbia attorney general's office, requiring them to pay more than half a million dollars for how they handled season-ticket security deposits in the past.

The franchise must pay $200,000 to impacted residents and another $425,000 to the district.

The suit contended that the team "systematically failed to return ticket holders' deposits and intentionally created barriers for fans to get refunds in violation of District law."

According to the settlement, the team continues to deny the district's allegations and claims.
