Seahawks Considered Taking Rashaad Penny Without Trading Down

Apr 27, 2018 8:26 AM

The Seattle Seahawks raised some eyebrows when they took Rashaad Penny with the 27th pick.

The San Diego State star was the first running back drafted after No. 2 pick Saquon Barkley.

Pete Carroll said the Seahawks nearly took Penny at No. 18, before opting to trade down.

"I don't mind telling you, this pick fired me up," Carroll said. "He'll be a three-down back for us. The guy can do everything. He has to work on his pass protection he was not asked to do a lot of, but he'll give us the ability to play him on all downs and that versatility is really big."

Seahawks Haven't Ruled Out Signing Colin Kaepernick

Apr 23, 2018 8:01 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have yet to rule out signing another backup quarterback, which could include Colin Kaepernick.

The Seahawks reportedly canceled a meeting with Kaepernick over a discussion on his anthem stance.

“I think that got blown up like that was a big marker,’’ Pete Carroll said. “I think we have been working at this thing for some time now so I don’t think that really is as telling as it came across. We’re aware of him. He’s a fine football player and there may be a place for him. We’re not sure about where that fits just yet.’’

Carroll was asked specifically about the importance of Kaepernick’s stance on the anthem.

“I think he’s continuing to work on the stuff that’s really important to his heart," said Carroll. That’s what it looks like. He’s been recognized with an award just recently. Everything’s important. We take everything into account to make the decisions that we make. It’s no different for the quarterback spot than any other spot we’re considering.”

Seahawks Postpone Colin Kaepernick Workout Over Anthem Issue

Apr 12, 2018 2:06 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have postponed a workout with Colin Kaepernick after he was unwilling to give the team assurances that he wouldn't kneel during the national anthem.

Seattle is still considering bringing in Kaepernick for a workout.

The day after his scheduled workout with the Seahawks, Kaepernick sat for his deposition administered by NFL attorneys in New York regarding the league's alleged attempts to conspire to keep him out of the league.

Eric Reid was also asked for assurances from the Bengals that he would not participate in on-field activism.

The Seahawks are searching for a backup quarterback behind Russell Wilson.

Russell Wilson's Camp Asks Seahawks Why They're Scouting Josh Allen

Apr 6, 2018 10:48 AM

The Seattle Seahawks attended the pro day of Josh Allen two weeks ago, which led Russell Wilson to inquire as to why, according to Jim Trotter of the NFL Network.

Allen will almost certainly be a first round draft pick.

Someone from Wilson's camp called the Seahawks and asked what it meant for Wilson that the team was scouting a quarterback expected to be among the top players taken in the 2018 NFL Draft, and asked “if there is anything we need to know.’’

Wilson has two years left on a four-year contract worth up to $87.5 million that he signed prior to the 2015 season.
