Frank Clark Willing To Play Under Franchise Tag With Seahawks

Oct 23, 2018 10:39 AM

Frank Clark is in no rush to sign a contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks.

Clark wants to become one of the NFL's highest-paid pass rushers and would be fine playing on the franchise tag first.

"I have had several very productive and positive talks with the Seahawks," agent Erik Burkhardt said. "Frank loves it there and believes they'll continue to produce as one of the NFL's dominant defenses even with the departure of many great players. ... Seattle has been very good to him. They've believed in him from the beginning and they've continued to help develop him.

"But the financial goal for players in every major sport now is to get to free agency. It often baffles me how some of these agents do early deals just for the sake of doing a deal. I know that it's football and injury risks are very real, but there's insurance policies to protect players' downsides and risks, along with other measures that we put in place to protect our guys. Just to do an early deal for the sake of doing an early deal doesn't excite us, especially for a guy like Frank who's already a dominant pass-rusher in this league and is just scratching the surface of what he will be."

Clark is in the final season of his rookie contract.

Jerry Jones: I'd Carry Jeff Bezos Piggyback To Get Him To Buy Seahawks

Oct 19, 2018 2:24 PM

If the Seattle Seahawks are put up for sale, Jeff Bezos has been linked as a potential candidate to buy the team.

Bezos is the richest man in the world as the founder and CEO of Amazon.

“Someone like that,” Jones said of Bezos, “I’d carry him piggyback to get him to the NFL.”

Along with Bezos, also mentioned were Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO and current owner of the Los Angeles Clippers; Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle Corporation; Joe Lacob, owner of the Golden State Warriors; and Marc Benioff, co-CEO of Salesforce.

Allen never married and had no children. His younger sister, Jody Allen, reportedly does not have interest in running either the Seahawks or the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, both owned by her brother, but she has not shared her wishes publicly.

Seahawks Owner Paul Allen Diagnosed With Lymphoma

Oct 2, 2018 11:13 AM

Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma -- a disease he initially was treated for and overcame in 2009.

Allen, 65, has begun treatment and doctors are optimistic he will once again beat the disease.

"Paul's been through this before ... he had a positive outcome," Pete Carroll said. "We're all pulling for him, too. We're all grateful for all that he stands for in this community and for all of us. So we're going to help him battle along with this process that he's going through that he knows very well."

Allen, who also owns the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, has served as the owner of the Seahawks since 1996 and was the co-founder of Microsoft.
