Eagles To Release Alshon Jeffery When League Year Begins

Feb 23, 2021 9:08 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles will release Alshon Jeffrey when the new league year begins in March, according to a report.

The Eagles restructured Jeffery's contract in early January, in order to create some salary cap relief and also to speed up the timeline on making a decision on the receiver's future.

Jeffery caught 171 passes for 2,237 yards and 20 touchdowns in four seasons with Philadelphia.

Eagles Expect To Trade Carson Wentz Within Next Few Days

Feb 6, 2021 3:50 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles expect to trade Carson Wentz within the next few days.

The Eagles are said to be looking for, in the words of one well-placed source, "a Matthew Stafford package" in return for Wentz. The Lions traded Stafford to the Rams last weekend for a third-round pick this year, two future first-round picks and quarterback Jared Goff, the player selected directly in front of Wentz as the top two picks in the 2016 NFL draft.

The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts are two teams that have expressed interest in Wentz.

Although the Eagles do not feel rushed to trade Wentz, and nothing can be made official until the new league year begins March 17, Wentz does have a $10 million roster bonus due on the third day of the league year that Philadelphia would have to pay if their former first-round pick were on their roster.

Carson Wentz Would Still Prefer Trade From Eagles

Feb 4, 2021 8:20 AM

Despite changes to the coaching staff this offseason, Carson Wentz still prefers a fresh start and a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report.

The Eagles fired Doug Pederson and hired Nick Sirianni. The new head coach served as the offensive coordinator under Frank Reich with the Indianapolis Colts. Reich was Philadelphia's coordinator when Wentz nearly won MVP in 2017.

Adam Schefter noted that Wentz has yet to welcome Sirianni or comment on Pederson's firing.

"(He) wants to leave the franchise," Schefter said on 97.5 The Fanatic. "That's why (a) trade still is in play. This is all real. None of this is made up."
