Josh Jacobs Puts Contract Issues In Past: 'It's A Clean Slate With Me'

Aug 31, 2023 7:07 AM

Josh Jacobs signed an adjusted, one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders over the weekend after a lengthy dispute over his value.

Speaking on Wednesday for the first time since returning to the Raiders, Jacobs said he harbors no ill will.

"I mean s---, we here. I mean I feel like we made it happen," Jacobs said. "So, it ain't no hard feelings now. I feel like I said, 'We made it happen' so it's a clean slate with me. It was never really like no hate on each side. But at the same time I understood my value, too. It was just about meeting in the middle."

The "middle" was a deal that offered Jacobs a chance to make nearly $2 million more than he would have received under the franchise tag, thanks to the addition of incentives in the one-year contract he signed.

Marcus Allen Speaks Out On RB Market: 'It's Almost Like Collusion'

Aug 15, 2023 8:36 AM

Marcus Allen, who spent 16 seasons in the NFL, has spoken out about the current running back market.

Allen has been a mentor to Las Vegas Raiders' star Josh Jacobs, who has decided not to sign his $10.091 million franchise tag and remain away from the team.

"I clearly understand what he’s going through," Allen said of Jacobs.

"I’m just going to say it -- it's almost like collusion. They decided that the running back position is one that their productivity is only for a short period of time, instead of looking at each and every one individually. They've decided, as a group, that they're not going to pay them. So, I can understand what [running backs are] thinking and what they're feeling. So, hopefully things get resolved, because to me, [Jacobs is] like the heart and soul of the team."

Jacobs ran for 1,653 yards in 2022, becoming the first Raiders player to lead the NFL in rushing since Allen did in his MVP season of 1985.

"I don't think it was crazy serious," McDaniels said. "It was just kind of a bang-bang play. Totally clean, on both sides."

Brock Purdy Unlikely To Play In Preseason Opener

Aug 8, 2023 1:26 AM

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's first preseason snaps in a game will likely have to wait until at least the Niners' second preseason contest set for Aug. 20 against the Denver Broncos. If they happen at all.

That's because the plan, for right now, is for Purdy to handle his usual duties as the starting quarterback in joint practices Thursday and Friday with the Las Vegas Raiders but not in the preseason opener Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.
