Derek Carr Released By Raiders

Feb 14, 2023 3:43 PM

The Las Vegas Raiders have released Derek Carr before $40.4 million in his contract became guaranteed. Carr is expected to draw interest from the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers and others.

The Raiders clear $29.25 million in cap space in 2023 with the move as they now project to have approximately $50 million in space.

Carr was a second round pick by the Raiders out of Fresno State in 2014. Carr was a four-time Pro Bowler with the Raiders.

Derek Carr won't waive his no-trade clause and will not extend Wednesday's deadline for more than $40 million in guarantees to kick in on his current contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to sources.

The Raiders could release the quarterback as soon as Monday. Only one team was interested in a trade, according to a report, and they wanted Carr to take a pay cut.

Carr, who turns 32 on March 28, visited with the New Orleans Saints last week.

Davante Adams: Playing With Rodgers Again Would Be 'Dream Scenario'

Feb 6, 2023 8:53 AM

Davante Adams says he'd love to be reunited with Aaron Rodgers on the Las Vegas Raiders.

"A million percent," Adams said. "A hundred percent, that's exactly what I'm trying to portray."

The wide receiver spent the first eight seasons of his career catching passes from Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers. He was dealt to the Raiders last offseason.

"Would I be interested in having Aaron Rodgers throw to me?" Adams said. "Yes. I would love that. … I would love to have that, and obviously, that would be a dream scenario. One that I'm very familiar with."

Adams declined to say whether or not he'd spoken with Rodgers about potentially reuniting. But he does plan on talking to Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels about his desire to have Rodgers as his QB again.

"There's a lot of conversations to be had, still, in the near future," Adams said. "We'll see what happens, but that's obviously something I'd go in and talk about."

Derek Carr Won't Extend Contract Guarantee Date

Feb 2, 2023 10:36 PM

Derek Carr will not extend his Feb. 15th trigger date on his contract to give the Las Vegas Raiders more time to resolve his situation.

The position increases the likelihood Carr will be released by the Raiders and will then be in a position to choose his next team.

Carr maintained that he and his representatives would still like to be authorized to speak to potential trade partners, but the Raiders have not yet granted that permission.

"That's for [the Raiders] to talk about," he said when asked about the team's refusal to allow conversations. "I'm just obeying the rules. If it gets to the date [and I get released], then I'll be able to talk to all my friends."
