Troy Aikman Believes Tom Brady Could Still Play For Raiders In 2023

May 31, 2023 8:48 AM

Jimmy Garoppolo is once again battling injury concerns, which has left the Las Vegas Raiders linked to available veteran quarterbacks.

There has been speculation that Tom Brady could once again come out of retirement, but the future Hall of Famer would face several hurdles to a potential comeback while becoming part-owner of a team.

"It's a good fit for Tom," Aikman told TMZ Sports of Brady's Raiders partnership. "I'm not surprised by it, especially after his other partnership with (owner) Mark Davis. ... I would imagine, being Tom Brady and being a silent partner or a minority investor would be hard, to only be that. I would think that he would want to have a fairly significant role within the organization.

"Maybe (he'd be) involved to the point where he's actually suiting up," Aikman continued. "I don't wanna speak for Tom. (But) I wouldn't rule anything out. He obviously has a relationship with the head coach, he knows the offense, he'll keep himself in great shape. ... I would bet that nothing's off the table, as far as what may occur during the season, or what Tom's role may be. I think he's done playing, but you just never know."

Jimmy Garoppolo Had To Rework Contract With Raiders Over Foot

May 28, 2023 9:43 PM

When Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, he failed his physical due to the foot injury he suffered during the 2022 season. Garoppolo had to rework his contract and also underwent surgery.

As originally negotiated, Garoppolo had an $11.25 million signing bonus and a base salary of $11.25 million for 2023. The foot injury resulted in the Raiders removing the signing bonus, with the full $22.5 million becoming base salary in 2023.

He won’t get any of it until he passes a physical. In the interim, the Raiders can cut him “for any reason related” to Addendum G.

Darren Waller On Giants: 'They Value Our Opinions Here'

May 26, 2023 10:13 AM

Darren Waller is embracing the change of scenery and approach from the New York Giants after five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Waller feels empowered in the culture that Brian Daboll has established compared to those of his previous stops.

"Yeah, they value our opinions here," Waller said. "As a player, I feel like a lot of places I've gone, you're told to do things a certain way and you do those things. But here it's like, they ask a lot of questions. They want to know what you're thinking, what you want to do more.

"So to offer input is a really cool thing because coaches and players have to be in partnership. We're all together and shouldn't be clashing with each other. We're all going in the same direction."

Davante Adams: 'Didn't Need Aaron Rodgers' To Be All-Pro

May 17, 2023 9:19 AM

Davante Adams says being selected as an All-Pro in his first season with the Las Vegas Raiders meant a lot to him.

"It proved that I am me," Adams, who was traded to the Raiders during the 2022 offseason after eight seasons with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, said. "A quarterback doesn't make me. ... I make me. And I can do it consistently at this level.

"That's why [last] season meant a lot. Even if I went and played like dog s--- next year, they can't say it. Because now I've already proved it throughout the course of a season, played every game, and put together a résumé that says I do not need ...

"You can erase all the numbers. You can just write in: He didn't need Aaron Rodgers."

After signing a five-year, $141.25 million deal that made him the highest-paid receiving in the league at the time, Adams caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns in 17 games for the Raiders in 2022.

Sources: Tom Brady In Talks To Buy Stake In Raiders

May 12, 2023 8:54 AM

Tom Brady is in deep discussions to become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders, according to sources.

Discussions between the two sides have been going on for weeks and could soon be reaching a resolution, yet sources indicate negotiations are still fluid.

Brady's investment is expected to be "passive," a source with direct knowledge of the situation says, and he would not have any operational control or authority over the club in business or football matters.

In late March, Brady announced that he had purchased a stake in the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, a team also primarily owned by Mark Davis.
