Dolphins, Saints Have 85 Percent Vaccination Rate

Jun 18, 2021 10:17 AM

The Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints are the only two NFL teams that have 85 percent of their players either fully vaccinated or on the way to reaching that status, according to a report.

Teams that have 85 percent of their players fully vaccinated are expected to have relaxed protocols this summer and during the season.

Mike Tomlin said this week that he didn't know the exact percentage of the Pittsburgh Steelers' players that have been vaccinated, but said "what I understand we're tops in the league in terms of this process."

Saints Will Build Offense Around QB Who Wins Starting Job

Jun 9, 2021 8:53 AM

The New Orleans Saints are preparing for a training camp battle between Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill for the right to replace Drew Brees as QB 1.

Winston and Hill have highly varied skill sets, which could create problems in terms of offensive playcalling. Sean Payton noted that while he'll tweak the offense for whichever quarterback wins the starting gig, the basis of the scheme won't change.

"We'll build it a little bit around that player accordingly. That's something that we did when Drew first arrived here and that we would do with either of these two players," Payton said.

Taysom Hill: 'There Is No Replacing A Drew Brees'

Jun 1, 2021 8:52 AM

For the first time in 15 years, the New Orleans Saints will have someone other than Drew Brees under center this coming season.

Taysom Hill took over when Brees missed four games due to injury last season, but Jameis Winston will have a chance to win the starting job in training camp.

"I think the thing that I realize first and foremost is there is no replacing a Drew Brees," Hill said.

"He's one of the greatest to ever do it. But I think as I got ready to enter the NFL, my goal and my mindset was to just do everything I can to have an opportunity to be a guy. Because there are only 32 starters in the NFL. So as I look forward into this year and training camp and OTAs and the season, I'm really just excited about having that opportunity. That has been the goal and the mindset since I was a rookie in 2017 first entering the NFL. So it's definitely something that I'm not taking lightly and I'm going to give it everything I've got."
