Alvin Kamara Leaves Camp With Saints In Push For Extension

Aug 31, 2020 4:33 PM

Alvin Kamara is making a late push for a contract extension with the New Orleans Saints.

Kamara has been an unexcused absence from training camp since Friday, which is believed to be contract-related.

Sean Payton has declined to specify the reason for any player absences in recent days, as teams are not required to release injury reports during camp.

Kamara is scheduled to make $2.133 million in the final season of his rookie contract.

By holding out, Kamara could risk losing an accrued season, meaning he would become a restricted free agent after this season instead of unrestricted.

NFL's 32 Teams Collectively Worth $99 Billion

Aug 26, 2020 1:29 PM

The average NFL franchise is worth more than $3 billion, according to data compiled by Sportico.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL at $6.43 billion with the Cincinnati Bengals ranking last at $2.12 billion.

The fair-market value of the NFL's 32 franchises collectively is $99 billion when considering team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.

The teams’ $15.83 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, which represents the 2019 season, was greater than that of 298 companies on the Fortune 500. That averages to about $495 million per team.

In 2019, the Cowboys generated an estimated $871 million in revenue, which was 81% greater than the average of the other 31 teams.

Alvin Kamara Not Worried About Long-Term Deal With Saints

Aug 10, 2020 9:33 PM

Alvin Kamara is not worried about his contract situation heading into the final season of his rookie deal.

Kamara said his main focus this offseason was healing from the knee and ankle injuries that plagued his "rocky" 2019 season.

"I'm just here to do my job. I'm healthy and back with my teammates, and we're working toward getting ready for Tampa [in Week 1]," said Kamara.

Kamara said he "basically tore my knee" during Week 6 of last season. But he said the injury did not require surgery after the season. Just "a lot of rehab."

Saints' More Restrictive 'Voluntary' Bubble Could Be Adopted Widely

Aug 4, 2020 6:10 PM

There have been discussions of whether the NFL should institute a more restrictive bubble but making it voluntary.

The New Orleans Saints are doing this with their team and nothing prohibits them from doing it because it is a "voluntary" requirement. The players, coaches and staff are staying in a hotel during training camp.

Teams that set up a voluntary bubble will be most effective in reducing the possibility of COVID-19 outbreaks.
