Taysom Hill Signs Two-Year, $21M Extension With Saints

Apr 26, 2020 12:28 PM

The New Orleans Saints have signed Taysom Hill to a two-year deal worth $21 million including $16 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The deal will take the place of Hill's one-year, $4.641 million tender.

Hill did not sign an offer sheet with any other NFL teams before last week's deadline.

Hill could potentially succeed Drew Brees as the Saints' starting quarterback, but he could also remain a gadget player.

Apr 26, 2020 11:17 AM

The New Orleans Saints and Jameis Winston are finalizing a one-year contract.

Winston's 2020 salary will be very economical for the Saints to fit him within their cap.

Winston will compete with Taysom Hill for the backup quarterback job. Drew Brees could retire following the 2020 season.

Winston had no traction for a starting job in 2020.

Drew Brees Signs Post-NFL Analyst Deal With NBC

Apr 10, 2020 3:50 PM

Drew Brees has agreed to sign with NBC Sports as a television analyst after his playing career is over.

Brees also received interest from ESPN.

Brees will be groomed as the potential replacement for Cris Collinsworth. Brees will start as a game analyst for Notre Dame football and as a studio analyst for "Football Night in America."

“Like all NFL fans, we look forward to watching Drew continue his Hall of Fame career this fall, and we are confident his post-playing career will be just as successful,” NBC Sports spokesman Greg Hughes told The Post.

Mike Tirico will take over for Al Michaels after the 2022 Super Bowl.

NBC could possibly add a second NFL package, which would allow Brees and Collinsworth to both be No. 1s.

ESPN's offer was believed to be $6 million per year and the highest while NBC's offer was competitive.

Apr 6, 2020 4:03 PM

For the 2020 season, ESPN could have a three-man booth of Steve Levy, Louis Reddick and Dan Orlovsky.

Brees won’t get what is now known as “Tony Romo money,” though ESPN is offering closer to the $6.5 million neighborhood that Jon Gruden earned.

FOX and CBS have had interest in Brees, who signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints this offseason.

Cam Jordan: Drew Brees Has At Least Two More Seasons Left

Apr 3, 2020 9:25 AM

Sean Payton created headlines this week when he referred to Drew Brees as heading into his "final season" during an appearance on ESPN.

Payton later clarified that he doesn't know what Brees will do after 2020.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan believes the quarterback has more left in the tank.

"I do know Drew's a little bit younger than Tom [Brady]. So I feel like we have a little competitive age of time on our hands," Jordan said,. "And I mean at this point Drew is playing at such a high rate. I feel like with Tom Brady signing a two-year deal, I know I've got Drew for at least that long."
