Todd Gurley Calls Thursday Night Games 'Dumbest Thing Ever'

Sep 30, 2019 8:38 AM

The Los Angeles Rams play the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Todd Gurley has never been a fan of international games or those played on a short week.

"You know how I feel about Thursday night games," Gurley said. "I feel like they are the dumbest thing ever."

Gurley rushed for 16 yards and two touchdowns on five carries against the Buccaneers. He caught seven passes for 54 yards.

"For the most part, if you aren't really battling injuries or stuff like that, Thursday is kind of like a day you usually feel good anyway," the running back said. "They played on Sunday, as well. ... We just have a quick turnaround to go up to Seattle."

Sean McVay: Todd Gurley Not On Load Management Program

Sep 24, 2019 9:07 PM

Sean McVay claims that the Los Angeles Rams don't have Todd Gurley on a load management program.

"We're not doing anything like that," McVay said. "It's more along the lines of each week presents a different approach. It's kind of the feel the flow of the game."

Gurley rushed for 43 yards on 14 carries against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday night.

"I have to do better about being able to give him a chance to really get more into a rhythm than what I've enabled him to do in these first three games," McVay said.

Sean McVay Pleased With How Rams Have Employed Backfield

Sep 16, 2019 9:12 AM

The Los Angeles Rams will keep changing their running back formula from week to week thanks to the confidence Sean McVay has in both Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown.

"It's going to be something that's by game," McVay said. "And really, it's more in the flow and the feel and how he's doing it as much as anything else. Because Todd's a big part of our offense, he's going to continue to be a big part of our offense. And the nice thing is that we feel good about Malcolm Brown being able to spell him. Because of the confidence we have with those two guys, it's been a good deal the first couple weeks. And in all seriousness, [I can't] tell you that's going to be what it is, because then Todd gets the hot hand and you feel like he's going to end up with 25 carries. I don't think that's out of the question either."

In Week 1, Gurley carried the ball 14 times to Brown's 11. The margin widened on Sunday with Gurley carrying 16 times to Brown's 6.

Sep 6, 2019 7:54 AM

The Los Angeles Rams won't limit Todd Gurley's workload on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

"Nope," Sean McVay said when asked if Gurley would be on a limited play count.

Gurley was placed on a strict training schedule throughout camp. He did not participate in any preseason games, along with the rest of the Rams' starters and key rotational players.

"Just Week 1 now," Gurley said. "I'm here, so really just get ready for Sunday."

"I'm excited to see Todd Gurley continue to do his thing," McVay said. "He looks good, he's feeling good and we're looking forward to Sunday."
