Brandin Cooks Never Considered Retirement

Nov 22, 2019 9:26 AM

Brandin Cooks says he never considered retirement despite suffering two concussions over a 25-day period.

The Los Angeles Rams cleared the concussion protocol on Thursday and is expected to return to the field Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens

"To be able to come back out here with the guys and prep for another game, I don't take that for granted," said Cooks, who has missed L.A.'s last two games.

Cooks has suffered five known concussions in his six-year career.

NFL Source: Chargers' Relocation To L.A. Wasn't Rational

Nov 21, 2019 11:31 AM

Dean Spanos and the Chargers lost out on his plan to build a stadium in Carson, California as Jerry Jones helped facilitate a more ambitious project in Inglewood led by Stan Kroenke and the Rams.

After losing to Kroenke, Spanos blew $15 million on a long-shot ballot initiative for a new stadium in San Diego, which destroy any remaining goodwill with the fanbase.

Many owners believed the NFL's $550 million relocation fee Spanos would need to move to Los Angeles would have been better invested as part of a new stadium in San Diego.

"It wasn't rational," a high-level league source said of the Chargers' decision.

Spanos, however, had grown frustrated by his attempts to build a new stadium in San Diego. Spanos saw the move to Los Angeles as Kroenke's tenant as "a favorable, low-risk deal," according to one of his confidants.

Rams, Chargers Had Fewer L.A. Fans Than Several Teams Before Move

Nov 21, 2019 11:27 AM

Research conducted by the NFL indicated the Rams and Chargers had fewer fans in Los Angeles than the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders before they relocated.

The Rams left Anaheim for St. Louis in 1994, while the Chargers only played briefly in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego.

The Chargers typically play their home games in front of more fans of the opposing team, while the Rams also have a tepid home field advantage.

Eric Weddle Won't Share Ravens Secrets With Rams

Nov 21, 2019 8:40 AM

Eric Weddle spent three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, but won't divulge secrets to the Los Angeles Rams when the two teams square off on Monday night.

"I could tell them a lot of stuff, but that's just not who I am," said Weddle, who signed a two-year, $10.5 million contract with the Rams after the Ravens released him. "So we're going to play it on the field, and the best team is going to win."

Sean McVay said Wednesday that he had not spoken to Weddle about the nuances of the Ravens' defense.

"In terms of some of the intricacies, I think he's got a lot of loyalty to those guys even if he's not there anymore," McVay said.

Todd Gurley: 'I Guess I Felt Like The Old Todd'

Nov 18, 2019 9:36 AM

The Los Angeles Rams leaned on Todd Gurley in Sunday night's win over the Chicago Bears, a departure from the team's offensive plan this season.

Gurley had 133 all-purpose yards on 28 touches, both season highs.

"I guess I felt like the old Todd," the running back said. "But it's cool, man. I'm just happy I was able to go out there and take advantage of my opportunities."

Sean McVay explained, "That was part of the game plan tonight, and I thought he did a great job."

JuJu Smith-Schuster Agrees With Jalen Ramsey: 'I'll Never Be AB'

Nov 11, 2019 11:11 AM

Jalen Ramsey talked trash to JuJu Smith-Schuster prior to Sunday's Pittsburgh Steelers-Los Angeles Rams game, telling the wide receiver that he'll never be like former teammate Antonio Brown.

"No disrespect to him, he's not Antonio Brown," Ramsey said. "I matched up with Antonio there for two years, and that was a good battle, and I held my own in those battles, and yeah, now I'm going up against a different person, different body type, different receiver a little bit. He can make plays."

After the Steelers defeated the Rams 17-12, Smith-Schuster agreed.

"He's right, though," Smith-Schuster said. "I'm not Antonio Brown. I'll never be Antonio Brown. I am myself. I'm JuJu Smith-Schuster. I'm not as good as him yet. I think I still have time to proceed to get to his level. But we're two totally different persons."

Either guarded by Ramsey to doubled, the wide receiver was held to three catches on six targets for 44 yards.

"He talks a lot," Smith-Schuster said of Ramsey. "He talks so much. He said so many cuss words I've never heard of, and I'm 22 years old. He's a good player, man."

Brandin Cooks 'Can't Wait To Get Back On The Field This Year'

Nov 8, 2019 7:55 AM

Brandin Cooks won't play this weekend, but he's hopeful that a series of concussions won't sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Cooks made the trip to meet with doctors about the concussion he suffered in Week 8.

"Whether some like it or not I'm far from that end destination when it comes to this game," Cooks wrote on Instgram. "I’m thankful that this soon will be something in the past. Time and time again my God is faithful and blessed nothing serious. Can’t wait to get back on the field this year. Like my good ole pal Spongebob Squarepants says ‘I’m ready I’m ready I’m ready . . . '"

Chargers Deny Having Interest In London Relocation

Nov 5, 2019 8:00 PM

The Los Angeles Chargers have refuted a report his franchise has interest in relocating to London.

"It's total f---ing bulls---," Dean Spanos said. "We're not going to London. We're not going anywhere. We're playing in Los Angeles. This is our home, and this is where we are planning to be for a long f---ing time. Period."

Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic reported on Monday the possibility of the Chargers moving to London. The Chargers reportedly would listen if the NFL approached them about London and the other owners are concerned about their situation in Los Angeles.

“Some would be happy …” a high-ranking NFL official told The Athletic. “But all of them (are concerned) about them in L.A. So I think they would get (support).”
