Rams, Chiefs Put Up Record Numbers On MNF

Nov 20, 2018 8:35 AM

The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs set records in a wild 54-51 game on Monday night.

It was the highest-scoring game in Monday Night Football history. The Chiefs became the first team in NFL history to score 50 or more points and lose.

The 105 combined points were the third-highest total ever for an NFL game.

"It was a whirlwind," Sean McVay said. "I feel like I might need a couple beverages to relax tonight. But it was great. This is what you love so much about the game."

Patrick Mahomes became the first to throw six touchdowns passes in a Monday night game.

While discussing play-calling, Sean McVay admitted that the Los Angeles Rams have taken a few plays from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Rams and Chiefs will face off in L.A. on Monday night.

"I'd be lying if I said we haven't stolen some of their stuff this year," McVay said. "They do a great job."

Asked whether he planned to use any of the Chiefs' plays against them, McVay said: "You'll have to wait and see."

Rams Allot Thousands Of MNF Tickets For First Responders

Nov 14, 2018 8:36 AM

Thousands of tickets for Monday night's Kansas City Chiefs-Los Angeles Rams game have been allotted to Los Angeles-area first responders.

The game, originally scheduled to be played at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, will now be played at the L.A. Coliseum because Azteca's playing surface did not meet NFL standards.

The Rams said they will be "providing thousands of complimentary tickets to first responders who are bravely protecting the greater Los Angeles community, as well as people who have been impacted by our community's recent tragedies."

Over the past seven days, the Los Angeles metropolitan area has been ravaged by the Woolsey fire and devastated by a mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, near where the Rams' facility is located.

Nov 12, 2018 3:11 PM

Cooper Kupp will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Kupp suffered the injury during the Los Angeles Rams' 36-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

"It's a huge loss for our football team, he's such an important part of what we do and a great football player, a great person, and it's tough, but fortunately we've got guys that are ready to step up," Sean McVay said.

Robert Woods is expected to play a bigger role in the slot for the Rams.

Kupp has caught 40 passes for 566 yards and 6 touchdowns.

A lot of points are expected when the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams play in Mexico City next Monday night.

The SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas on Sunday opened the Chiefs-Rams over/under at 64, which, if it holds, would be the highest since at least 1986.

The previous highest over/under total in ESPN's NFL database was 62 in a November 2009 game between the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

Rams Expect Dante Fowler To Contribute On Sunday

Nov 1, 2018 8:39 AM

After acquiring him via trade on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams expect Dante Fowler to contribute on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

"We feel like he's going to help us, specifically from a rush perspective," Sean McVay said. "Got him in here and we'll see how quickly he can get up to speed, if he's going to be able to contribute and help us this weekend. But we're excited to get Dante here."

The biggest hurdle will be getting Fowler comfortable in the Rams' defensive scheme.

"He passed his physical and he's going to — really, today is more of a mental, kind of that above-the-neck approach on a Wednesday for us," McVay said. "So, he'll get exposed to a lot of reps. If he's taking part in it or if he's standing right there with [defensive line coach] Billy Johnson listening to some of the calls, the communication. But we anticipate him being able to be involved and kind of, really, we'll see how he's able to adjust, how he's able to absorb that information. But we wanted to get him in here and hopeful that he's a contributor for us as soon as this weekend against a tough team."
