Colts team president Bill Polian said Wednesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio that head coach Jim Caldwell isn't responsible for the clubs' struggles, and that injuries to key players like Peyton Manning, Melvin Bullitt and Gary Brackett are to blame.

Colts Place Kerry Collins On Injured Reserve
The Colts have placed veteran quarterback Kerry Collins on the injured reserve, a move that could signal the end to his career once again.
Collins came out of a brief retirement to sign with Indianapolis prior to the season.
He suffered a concussion earlier this season.
Polian: Peyton Could Still Play This Season
Colts vice chairman Bill Polian, who was interviewed by Peter King of Sports Illustrated on Tuesday, said that it is still possible that quarterback Peyton Manning could play this season.
In the interview, Polian said that Manning could begin jogging this week and that he has spoken to the quarterback about his plans beyond this season.
Despite the team's 0-7 record, Polian insists that there is still a chance that Manning could take the field this season.
Saturday: I Didn't Pin Loss On Coaching
Colts center Jeff Saturday denied Monday that he said following the team's 55-point loss to the Saints on Sunday night that Indianapolis was out-coached.
"I didn't say that," Saturday said. "I said that as a team, we were out-played, we were out-coached. There is nothing that we did better than they did yesterday. I've been in this game way too long to try to lay the blame on anybody else. No coach put pads on."
Colts coach Jim Caldwell was blunt with his team in the locker room after the game.
"You tell them the truth," he said. "We just got licked in every phase. I told them last night that we got whipped in every phase, and I told them wasn't pleased with my preparation for them. I didn't get them ready, obviously, and I've got to do a better job."
Caldwell Takes Responsibility For 55-Point Loss
The Colts are 0-7 following their embarrassing 62-7 loss to the Saints on Sunday night in New Orleans.
They are guaranteed to have fewer than 10 victories in a season for the first time in nine years.
"That team played better than we did in every area and we just got whooped across the board," Indianapolis coach Jim Caldwell said.
"It's one of those things that once you don't do the little things right, there is a lot of bad things that happen to you. Obviously, I have to take responsibility for our team and the way that they played."
Dungy: Colts Should Draft Luck, Maybe Even Trade Manning
Tony Dungy believes the Colts should draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck if given the opportunity.
"I think you have to take him," Dungy told The Dan Patrick Show on Friday.
Dungy said Peyton Manning "would handle it OK, because you know it's coming."
Indianapolis is winless. Dungy coached the Colts to a Super Bowl victory before he retired and Jim Caldwell took over.
"I would see him competing and playing as long as he wanted," Dungy said. "If it gets to the point to where, hey, he comes back and it looks like he's gonna play three or four more years, and you say -- we've got Andrew Luck, we've got an asset -- we trade him (indicating Peyton)."
Irsay Denies Rumors Claiming Colts Will Deal Veterans
On Saturday, Colts owner Jim Irsay squashed speculation that his players are being shopped around as Tuesday's trade deadline approaches.
"No, the trade rumors aren't true ... I'm negotiating 2 buy Mars though ... so I can ensure inter-galactic, NFL dominance for the 25th century," Irsay tweeted.
Indianapolis wide receiver Reggie Wayne and defensive end Robert Mathis have been mentioned in rumors.
Addai Doesn't Travel to Cincinnati
The Colts will be without running back Joseph Addai in Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Addai left last week's game in the first quarter after hurting his hamstring.
When Addai went out last week, rookie Delone Carter got more playing time. Indy could also use Donald Brown, their first-round pick in 2009, more.
Irsay: 'Less Than 50 Percent' Chance Manning Returns
Colts owner Jim Irsay says there are still no plans to put Peyton Manning on the injured reserve, but he didn't sound optimistic that the quarterback would return this season.
Irsay said that doctors have not ruled out a return this year for Manning, although he said it's "less than 50 percent" that the quarterback will return.
Manning underwent his third neck surgery in September.
Irsay: Colts Would 'Certainly Think About Taking' Luck
Colts owner Jim Irsay hinted on Monday that the team could draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in 2012 if the opportunity presented itself.
"Guys like that come along so rarely," Irsay said, referring to Peyton Manning and Luck.
"Even if that means that guy sits for three or four years, you'd certainly think about taking him ... you see what Green Bay did with (Brett) Favre and (Aaron) Rodgers and you'd like to be able to do the same thing."
Manning is out indefinitely after having surgery to fuse two vertebrae in his neck. Without him, the Colts are 0-5.
"Each season connects to the next season," Irsay said. "Just like when we were 3-13 in 1998 (Manning's rookie year) and were 13-3 in 1999. Each year connects, and there's a thread that runs through your team. You want to get better, and if you're getting better in December, that can carry through to next year."
