Packers Plan To Go Running Back By Committee

Jun 20, 2018 7:57 AM

The Green Bay Packers don't plan to feature a lead running back this season.

"The fact of the matter is we're going to go running back by committee," Mike McCarthy said. "But if one of them would emerge as that full-time guy then you have to have that ability to ... adjust to that.

"As far as planning and going into the season, that's why we're going about it that way. We feel like we've got three guys that have all done it, but they haven't done it over a long period of time, so I think it's just practical thinking from that position and realizing that it's a very demanding position."

Green Bay currently has a stable of Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery and Aaron Jones.

The Packers finished 2017 ranked 17th in the NFL with 107.8 yards per game on the ground.

Aaron Rodgers Seeking Opt-Out Clause In New Contract

Jun 1, 2018 1:33 PM

Aaron Rodgers will attempt to negotiate an opt-out clause in his contract extension with the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers would like to prevent a situation from recurring where he is leapfrogged in quarterback salary and must wait for his contract to almost come due before signing an improved deal.

Rodgers has two more years remaining on his deal.

NFL players have never had that type of control over their deal in the past.
