Ty Montgomery May Play Week 5 Despite Rib Injury

Oct 2, 2017 12:53 PM

Ty Montgomery is listed as day-to-day with a rib injury and could play in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Montgomery was off to a strong start with 28 yards on five carries in the first six plays from scrimmage before he left in the first quarter with the injury.

The Packers had said Montgomery had suffered broken ribs.

"Really, every injury is different," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Friday. "We're talking about injuries that the specifics of it are different, where exactly it's located, type of equipment and definitely the position that you play. I really don't have a clear answer on exactly what Ty is dealing with and how he can move forward. I know today the conversation with the trainers, as far as his conversation with the trainers, he's preparing to get ready to play in Dallas. That's really what this weekend is for. Tuesday we'll really get our hands around it, and obviously, we'll get you the injury information on Wednesday."

Packers Asking Fans To Link Arms During Anthem

Sep 27, 2017 8:01 AM

The Green Bay Packers are asking fans at Lambeau Field for Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears to join them in linking arms during the national anthem.

Most Packers linked arms on the sideline before Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Three players sat on the bench.

In a statement released Tuesday night, the players said coaches and staff will join them with arms intertwined to represent a coming together of people who want "freedom, equality, tolerance, understanding and justice for those who have been unjustly treated, discriminated against or otherwise treated unfairly."

"Those of us joining arms on Thursday will be different in so many ways, but one thing that binds us together is that we are all individuals who want to help make our society, our country and our world a better place," the players said in the statement. "We believe that in diversity there can be UNI-versity. Intertwined, we represent the many people who helped build this country, and we are joining together to show that we are ready to continue to build.

"Let's work together to build a society that is more fair and just."

Packers May Reduce Ty Montgomery's Snaps

Sep 21, 2017 8:55 AM

The Green Bay Packers may begin to ease off on Ty Montgomery's playing time.

Green Bay has monitored the overuse of players in the past and Montgomery leads all running backs with 139 offensive snaps played this season.

"I feel good," he said. "My body feels good. And obviously I'm thankful and blessed to have a role in this offense."

Montgomery has been on the field for 88% of Green Bay's snaps, the highest total since Matt Forte played 92% of snaps for the Chicago Bears in 2014.
